It was tough. You've got to put things in perspective. When it comes to things like that, football's secondary. To see all those people and what they were going through, I couldn't even imagine being in those peoples' shoes. It was real tough, seeing the city you grow up in, your whole life, not knowing if you'll ever be able to go back there. I'm just hoping the best for everybody. |
It's a big challenge. Those guys are one of the most explosive offenses in the league. To have so many weapons, you just can't lay your head on one guy. They have a terrific running game. They have terrific receivers. But if we come out and play with the same intensity we had against the Jets, then we should be fine. |
It's going to be strange, man, |
It's just the second game. We don't feel like we're at our peak yet. But to hold a great offense to 17 points is something you can be proud of. But in no way, shape or form are we satisfied with how we played. We know we can play better. |
Obviously, the numbers were down last year. When I got traded here, I just thought it was an opportunity to bring some leadership, to bring some playmaking ability to the defense. We're playing pretty good right now, but we have a long way to go. |
Probably Marvin Harrison. I played against him twice a year when (the Colts) were in our division, and the guy doesn't say a word. He just goes out there and gets the job done each and every year. He's not looking for the attention some of the other receivers are looking for. That's how you garner respect around the league: by being a humble person and not trying to humiliate guys. There's competition out there, and guys are working their tails off. So when you score a touchdown give the ball back to the ref. On top of that he's a great player. |
regains the form he had a couple of years ago. |
Rod just gets it done, |
There are some things I can get better at. That's what preseason is for. You're going to get beat once in a while. But the good players learn from their mistakes. |
This is unprecedented a team getting up as early as we did, making a flight almost all the way across the country and then playing a game that night. It shows you how much character we have. |
We had a job to do. Hey, it's a football game. We've been playing this since we were 8. It's really simple. Tonight guys found that extra bit of energy. |
We have something to play for and you can't stop fighting. It's just a little piece of bread but we're still hanging on. |
We stopped the run and made them a one-dimensional team. |
We told him to get out, but he wanted to ride it out. He was a little stubborn, |
We were tired of being told that the defense isn't any good. That we don't have any good players. That we can't tackle. As a professional, it's week to week. You have another week to redeem yourself. |
