I was ecstatic. I auditioned with the Martine part in mind; she's not a big character, but she's a blast. I get to do a Cockney accent, which I adore, and just play on stage. |
It has been a little difficult to get into character, but it's also been really fun. Martine gets to do all of the crazy things I'm usually too reserved to do, so it's freeing. She is funny; I'm not. |
The Learned Ladies is a farce, so that means that auditions are about taking many risks with the characters you make. I did the ugliest cry on stage as part of my audition. Even if I had not gotten the part, it would have been worth auditioning just to do something so crazy on stage. |
