Christophe has a really interesting take on the concept of the video game. And you do have a sense of what it must feel like to be stuck in this chase. Since we've been making the film, we see the vision and the script come alive. It's a very visual piece so when [reading the script] you won't necessarily understand what it is but every day has just been an assault on the senses.

I'm not a very good player, to be honest. I've tried to play the game and especially to get familiar with the characters better. I mean, it's really an amazing game, having just a limited sort of knowledge of it that I have.

I think there's something very elegant about the way that Christophe is directing horror. And, his inspiration is, you know, coming from a very highbrow kind of level in art. So If you're into horror I would say this is the movie to watch because it's elegant horror.

I think the major attraction to me was?Christophe.

Pretty much when you're in Silent Hill, all the characters are female. Motherhood is a huge issue in the story. My girl is lost ... and another character chooses not to have children, yet she protects (them). Another character has her own attachment to the little girl ... and another just wants to kill her. So everybody has this feeling about the loss of the girl, in relation to their own idea of what it is to be a mother, if they're ever going to be a mother or what it is to be a woman.

It's disturbing because she's such a good actress. She had to draw all these evil pictures as her character, these evil scribbles. So we would just sit around and draw really pretty pictures as sort of an antidote to what we were doing every day.

Silent Hill is the scariest thing I've been in since a bed with Ally Sheedy.

This town is haunted by special effects!
