It's going to be important to set the tempo in these football games because we have to establish some sort of pace, and we did a good job of that this past Sunday, how we came out and ran the football and really put some pressure on the defense. And our defense, I think, really fed off that. I think our team this past week really felt connected in that we fed off each other and really got into a good flow.

We want to get them back, basically.

I thought we had the potential to do something. It looks like we're heading that way. It's not all over, said and done, but it's all in front of us, and I'm glad to be a part of a team that's playing for something in December.

This gives us an opportunity to sort of take care of it ourselves. We're counting on ourselves.

We had several football players on that team. Eagle Day, Billy Kinard, Eddie Crawford. Back in that time, the various coaches did not demand 100 percent of your time to a specific sport.

We know we've got to play better offensively to continue in this tournament.

They did a great job of scheming. I was surprised at some of the looks we got. They filled (the gaps) a different way with their linebackers that we didn't anticipate. I don't think we did a good job of adjusting.

We've got to win time of possession. We've got to figure out real quick where their guys are going and how they're going to play us.

Coach Gibbs is not satisfied. He probably wants to prove to some of the guys that he still has it; he's still motivated. That's important. We'll get it done.

We've got to really bring an offensive threat to the field next week. We didn't carry our weight.

I'm fortunate in the sense I really did finish up with the best group of guys. I couldn't have picked a better group. For me to go out in my 20th season with the type of teammates I had, with all the jokes and fun — I was blessed.

We finally get an opportunity where it's in our hands. We don't have to count on anyone else.

A couple of weeks ago, I had a few bad days in practice. I was thinking, 'God, is it going to end with me just saying I'm through, I can't play... in a Thursday practice?' I just thought, 'I'm sore, I'm tired, I can't make it to Friday.' And sure enough, I come back Friday and have a good day.

He just wished me good luck. For him to give me that letter, man, that just made me feel good.

Actually, I was starting to feel like my abilities were best suited at tackle, because I'm not as fast as I used to be. As you get older, it's a leg-strength game. I'm able to sort of trick the team and trick this league that I can play inside. That's basically what I got by with - a little guile, a little veteran savvy, and also leaning on my teammates.
