People leaving New Orleans were going north to find better conditions. They weren't getting any help there, but we weren't either. So, basically they took it upon themselves to help themselves by robbing stores and people. |
We lived about 80 miles north of New Orleans. We didn't get flood damage. We got the wind damage. Trees down. No power, no phone. We did have running water, but no one knew if it was safe to drink. |
You couldn't even find a loaf of bread. We decided we'd better get the kids out of there. |
