He almost blew his knee out in the downhill. To come back and ski the way he did today is unbelievable. He has more medals in the Olympics and world championships than some people have skied races. |
I am psyched. At the same time, I'm kind of bummed for Marco, because he doesn't have another event to ski. |
I don't know the last time, if ever, I've raced a super-G, and seen racing postponed and resumed the same day. None of the top five finishers had an [early] run, so they had a slight advantage. |
I lost my voice screaming for Ted. |
I think Marco made a pretty big mistake on top and I made some mistakes on the bottom, so I knew it was going to be real tight. I had the opportunity to shut the door if I had a clean run, and I didn't do that. |
I'd rather get it out of the way tomorrow and be able to relax on Saturday. I was a little nervous because I had never raced the course before. |
I'm having a wonderful time. It's a wonderful experience. |
I'm so excited for him. I'm his room-mate here. He deserves it, he skied great today. |
It was really cool. You get to know better some of the other competitors (on the U.S. Olympic team). It was kind of cool talking shop with those guys about their sport. |
It was so fun to come across the line leading for a couple skiers. |
It's a great day, especially with Bode skiing out. Ted stepped up. |
It's incredible. He probably has more medals in the Olympics and world championships than some people have skied races. I can't believe how he brings out his game when it counts most. |
It's more a race than a training day. |
The focus is on Austria. Those guys always step it up, and there are so many of them, and it seems every year there's a new guy. We're starting to do that, and when we come in and steal a podium, the Austrians don't like it. |
There's a lot of guys on the American team right now who can punch into that top 10, top five and medal placing. |
