For our goalie, this is his first [Division I] college game. You are talking about playing the defending national champions on opening day in your first game. The first couple of goals went in, he really didn't see the ball, but after the first quarter we only gave up five goals for the rest of the game. |
He wasn't concerned about the record because we lost the game. When you talk to him, you'd never know he was putting up the points he does. |
He's playing fine. We're just young. Everybody we're playing on the defensive end is brand new. We're still working out the kinks. |
I don't know about a penalty at that time. It was kind of a chaotic situation. But the referee said he clearly did it. |
I told our kids all week it was going to be close. Their style tends to keep it that way because they don't really pick up the tempo, so you know you're going to stay in the game. |
It's a proud feeling. I really feel good coming back here and bringing my team back to Hopkins. This is where lacrosse was made. |
It's hard to play without seeing the time. And it's hard for the officials to determine some of the stalling. But I don't think it was a factor that caused us to lose. |
Really, we're just trying to end the regular season on a good note having a winning record and going into our conference tournament with confidence. |
To stand here on the same field with Dave, him being the head coach at Hopkins and me being the head coach at Albany, it really doesn't get much better than that. |
We proved that we could play at high level. We can only get better from here. |
We wanted to send a message to the rest of the teams in the conference that we're hitting our stride and ready for the tournament. |
