| Continuously, day and night, they are gripped by greed and deluded by doubt. The slaves labor in slavery, carrying the loads upon their heads. That humble being who serves the Guru is put to work by the Lord in His Home. |
| Countless sinners are sanctified, attaching their minds to the Feet of the Lord. |
| CREATIVE BEING PERSONIFIED. NO FEAR. NO HATRED. |
| Cruelty, attachment, desire and egotism - there is great hunger in these, like the raging torrent of a wild stream. |
| Cruelty, material attachment, greed and anger are the four rivers of fire. Falling into them, one is burned, O Nanak! One is saved only by holding tight to good deeds. |
| Cursed is emotional attachment and love of Maya; no one is seen to be at peace. |
| Day after day, He cares for His beings; the Great Giver watches over all. |
| Day and night, true guru remains awake and aware; he never sleeps or dreams. |
| Death does not even approach the Lord's servant. |
| Death is pre-ordained - no one who comes can remain here. So chant and meditate on the Lord, and remain in the Sanctuary of the Lord. |
