The kids might be disappointed, but it's not going to put a dent in our season. We'll back him up a couple days, make sure he's ready to go, maybe DH him a couple at-bats. |
The more he can pitch, (the better). We're trying to find some consistent innings for him here as long as we can. We'd kind of like to let him make a few starts, because I think it's good for him. But as far as him giving up runs and us not thinking he's going to be a good pitcher, no, that's not (the case). |
The more you get to know him and the way he plays the game and understands the game, the more you like him. |
The one thing he does is pitch his (behind) off. He keeps fighting, he battles, he competes. |
The one thing that I'm really excited about is when he hits the ball, he runs like his pants are on fire. I love that. Our team is not very fast. ... But when [Crisp] comes out of the box, they better get it in or he's going to go to second. That's an aspect that we haven't had a lot. That will be fun to watch. You can already tell by the way he plays the game. He's going to do it every time. It's part of his game. |
The prognosis is very good. I think four months is when he's allowed to start throwing, give or take. That's the basic diagnosis. I think he's very optimistic about being able to pitch again like he can pitch. |
The report was as good as it can be. Structurally, there was no damage. I think he bruised that area and got some swelling. |

The same thing we talked about with Dale, I don't think Boston will intimidate him, because he's going to get somebody thrown out at some point, and I think he's able to handle that. |
The second play, I don't know how he did it. Lowell was in there laughing. He said, 'you're going to see it all year.' I hope so. |
The shot wasn't in the (shoulder) joint. They're just trying to get the inflammation out of there. He'll be ready to play (today) and try to play through it. |
The signs are pointing to that he may not pitch again. We will certainly go through hoops to see what we can do. |
The stage isn't too big. |
The thing we've got to be careful about is that we know his willingness to play. Last year he played on a knee I don't think many people would have played on but he never said anything. So, we don't want him to go out there and hurt himself. |
The tone of our clubhouse will be just fine if we win. That's never been a concern. It might be a little quieter than in the past. Maybe it won't. What I really care about is winning. If we win, the clubhouse will be fine. If we lose, it'll be quiet. That's the way it goes. |
