Any time you get one of your best players sitting on the bench, it's going to be tough. She's still putting up a double-double and leading the conference in scoring. |
Basketball's a game of runs. Trinity Valley's one of the best at doing that. The run in the first half didn't bother me that much. The biggest thing that made me nervous was that I had to burn so many timeouts early to try to keep everything in check. |
I think the biggest thing is we tied the game, but we never took the lead. Some of the freshmen off the bench did a good job of getting us back in the game, but there were a couple calls down the stretch that help them put some distance in between us. |
Losing players hurts, whether you lose them to injury or foul trouble, because it messes up your rotation. But losing one player does not cripple my team. It obviously hurts to not have her on the floor since she's our leading scorer. |
They're a team that does a great job crashing the offensive glass, and you have to block them out. I thought we did a better job of it in the second half. |
We're a long way from being down and out. We've lost more than we would have liked. But as unhappy as I have been at times, we're a long way from sitting at the house come tournament time. |
We're running out of opportunities to give games away. The biggest thing is we need to get on a little roll here. |
We've got Jacksonville and Lon Morris on the road. Obviously, the primary goal is make the tournament, and, if possible, improve the place that we go in instead of going in at six. I think all that talk's very premature at this point. We got to get there. |
You've got to block out to win games. Size on the inside is nice to have, but at the same time it can be overrated. It's all about attitude and being willing to get in there and mix it up. We just haven't been willing to put a body on anybody, and when you're short and you won't put a body on anybody, it's really not a good combination. |
