I think we've got the loss to Boston College behind us now, but we're trying to build on those little mistakes and fix those little things going into this weekend. I don't think we've lost any momentum. Everybody's ready to play. We're fired up. |
I thought it was his best defensive performance of the year. He took Hassan Adams out of what he wanted to do and Hassan Adams is one of the best perimeter players in the country. For Bobby just to stay in front of him and keep him out of the lane and keep him from the easy baskets and force him into tougher shots, I thought he was tremendous. It was the key to our win. |
I would never say our team didn't go into a game seriously last year, because that's not the kind of team we were. But we were coming off a huge win against Duke, and I think we were maybe a little overconfident coming into the ACC Tournament. |
I'm not going to make any bold statements or anything, but magical things happen in March. The teams that are the tightest-knit groups, play smart and play together, the teams that do that are the teams that go deepest in the tournament. |
It really didn't bother me that he shut me down. Al and I will kiss and make up and everything will be fine. |
It was just an awkward moment. I think I just misunderstood what he was trying to say. I'm just not used to people telling me 'good D' after they hit one in my face like that. |
It's been a dream of mine not only to put on a North Carolina uniform but to contribute, and I've gotten to live that dream this year. So I'm thrilled about that, but I'm not satisfied. I still want to keep doing what I'm doing and keep improving and do whatever I can do to help this team win games. |
It's been amazing. He had such high expectations coming into this year, and for him to absolutely exceed those expectations is so impressive. He's made it look like a smooth transition. |
It's tough after any loss. That was a loss at home, it was to the No. 2 team in the country and it was a loss when we had opportunities to win. And on top of that, it was a loss to Duke. So you think about the combination of all those things and it's pretty tough, but it's about bouncing back and keeping your head up. |
It's tough when you're trying to dig down and get that stop at the end of a game and you can't get it. |
It's unusual, I agree with that. I mean, one day it's going to happen, we just didn't want it happening on this day. |
Marcus and I play the same position, but we don't look at it like that. We're just trying to win games. We both know that we're going to play, and it's not about who plays more minutes. |
Maybe people should be surprised. We lost our top seven scorers from last year, but I don't think we're surprised. We've set high goals. We've just tried to improve throughout the year. You want to be better in February than you are in January. |
Maybe that's a little bit of an exaggeration -- I don't remember the exact number. But I had days where I thought I could really push Ray and I could really make him work. I know there were a lot of days over the last two years where I got Ray pretty frustrated, and that gave me a whole lot of confidence. |
No question, my role on this team is the spot-up shooter. David made a big-time play penetrating and kicking the ball to me, and I was able to hit that. Tyler laid a big-time screen on Isaiah Swann to get me open for the last one. My role is to hit open shots, and my teammates got me open shots tonight. |
