(Grilli) did an outstanding job. I couldn't be happier. I'm sure he's very happy. He did a great job tonight. He had a good curveball tonight. Normally when he's pitching well, it's working for him. He threw it for strikes. |
(Hansbrough) is very focused. He works extremely hard. He battles as hard as any freshman I have ever been around. Ever. ... You usually don't find freshmen with that kind of attitude and work ethic. That's a great quality. |
(Hunt) has a good doubles lineup, and that's what pulled it out for them. It was, by far, our best performance of the season. Each time, we keep getting closer and closer to a win. Hopefully, next time we'll finally get it. |
(Originally) I didn't want the pressure of having to coach him and him having to play for me. I reached the point where I wondered if he should be here (at Memorial). I felt a lot better for him and his program this season. |
(Richmond) didn't play well against us and we didn't play well that day, either, just a little bit better. This is their last hurrah, and they're going to come out psyched. We've got to understand that we're the hunted now. |
(Smith's running style) would be that of a (Hall of Famer) Gale Sayers. Gale could move, he was fluent, he was skillful, he was finesse. He could give you a leg and take it away. . . . This is the type of skill (Smith) has. |
(The Fed) would rather see slower economic growth over the next two years than the return of stagflation three or four years down the road. And I think they'll do everything they have to make sure we don't have stagflation. |
(The hit) was borderline, probably. There's no question it was on the edge. It was ruled a clean hit, but I recognize when you hit the other team's captain, somebody's coming to stand up for him. I don't want to hurt a guy. |
(The weather) kind of relaxes you. We talked about just staying focused, keep everything short and simple and not to press and just let it come. But at the same time, we had to stay aggressive at the plate and on the bases. |
(The) offense didn't show up most of the day. We pretty much got whipped on the line of scrimmage. We have a lot of work (to do) on the offense. We had some good individual performances, but this is not an individual sport. |
(Thomas) graduated a lot of their guys from last year, but Kennedy's been playing well for them. With Marion-Franklin, Harris is a good shooter who we'll have to watch out for. We feel pretty comfortable with the (defense). |
(UW's four seniors) have never felt like this throughout our whole career here at Wisconsin. It's unbelievable. You can't explain it. This is the first time we've ever beaten Minnesota in our careers. You are just ecstatic. |
