He pulled up alright and trained well this morning, hopefully we can turn the tables on Saturday. We just had about every bit of bad luck happen to us last week. He had the bad start and losing a shoe at the 600 was the finishing touch to what ended up a bad day. |
He said it makes up for losing in the Olympics. He said he wanted to say congratulations and to tell the guys, ?Way to go.' It was nice of him to take that time, in the middle of the season and right after Olympics -- he had a lot going on. It was a nice gesture. |
He said that the surgery went well and he's really the happy the way it went, ... I know it was bothering him and, even though we're going to miss him for quite a long time here, we'd rather look at the big picture and get him back and hopefully he'll be healthy. |
He wants to play, that's genuine. His record speaks for itself. I don't know if there has been a player in the modern game in Australia who has played as much as him -- I would assume that his record in terms of playing and being available is better than anybody. |
He was just totally unresponsive. I think he was pretty much gone before the rescue squad even got there. I think they did everything they could have done. The doctor at the hospital said there wasn't much they could have done, that it was a massive heart attack. |
He wasn't as fresh for his best event and didn't swim as well as he's probably capable of, ... because he chose to be a team player rather than go with his best event. We told him this year we're going to try and help him out and try to get him in his best event. |
He, by himself, is credited with being able to keep the fans in the ballpark in Dodger Stadium until the ninth inning. I think the season standings speak for themselves when he's there and when he's not there. He wasn't there last year, and you saw what happened. |
He's a baseball guy, ... He loves working with these kids and being able to make a statement in their lives. He's always said he'd probably never work with older kids because (preteens) still believe everything you tell them. After they turn 14, they know it all. |
He's a bold-stroke artist, but he's always been someone who adjusts his approach to fit the circumstances. His political capital is diminished, and his opponents are emboldened. I think he's reading the circumstances he finds himself in and adjusting accordingly. |
He's a great player, and it's really hard to stop those kinds of players, especially down low. He uses his body very well, because he can take contact but still get a good shot up, so he gets to the free throw line a lot, and that's where he does a lot of damage. |
He's a leader by example. He's not real verbal but he plays hard. He's always where he is supposed to be. He always does what I ask him to do. And when he does that, the other guys follow him. He knows the team is watching, so he always gives everything his best. |
He's always been a guy that we could count on to give us a lot of innings. Shaky first inning, but he settled down and really did a good job. He's a smart kid, quality pitcher, and once you weather what he did in the first inning, it gave him a lot of confidence. |
He's been a difficult guy to replace. He's one of those guys you take for granted when you have him in the lineup. It's been tough not having him because he plays in so many different situations. He's a complete player. We hope to get him on the ice this weekend. |
He's been battling through a bad back. His lower back has been hurting him for a few weeks. He played like he's been off for a few weeks. Still, when it mattered, he stepped forward and played like the player he's been all year for us. He's had a tremendous year. |
He's been punishing the ball pretty good over the past five or six games, just line drives into the gaps. He got off to a relatively slow start and whether that was some tentativeness with his knee situation, I'm not sure. But he's been hitting his stride lately. |
