I was all right until the seventh. It went downhill from there. I was pretty ticked off. I almost blew the whole thing right there. I left the ball right down the middle for Schneider and he did what he was supposed to do. He hit a double, but I'm glad he didn't hit a homer. |
I was caught off guard by the move, ... I'm indebted to Ed Wade. He gave me another chance to manage and he brought me into the organization before that. I feel bad because I know that baseball is Ed's life. Nobody worked harder or longer than Ed and I feel fine saying that. |

I was disappointed. It had nothing to do with the score. It was just the way we started the ball game. This is region. You can go home [after a loss]. It's not like, 'OK, you played bad and you lost; you can come out and get better in practice.' If you lose now, you go home. |
I was excited. You never want to see someone go down, but I've been waiting for this opportunity for three years to get on the field. It was a perfect situation. There was a calmness about our football team when I went out there. Everybody just said, let's go down and score. |
I was getting ready to head out there myself if he had rung him up. But I think he got the call right. ... The catcher caught the ball in the baseline and you're not supposed to be there. At the same time, what are you supposed to do if you're the catcher? It's a tough play. |
I was going to glove it at first, and when it hit it kind of checked up, and the next thing that went through my head was (to) make sure the ball doesn't go underneath my hand because the guy could score. I just happened to get a great grip on the ball and threw the guy out. |
I was looking at the scoreboard all night, ... You can really get mesmerized by that thing. It goes on and the fireworks continue to go off (after each score). I thought at one point they might run out of fireworks. That's a big number and, basically, I'm numb at this point. |
I was most concerned about whether (the shark) was going to come back. You are in a panic mode. I'm losing fingers, I was bleeding all over the place and you don't know if you are going to be hit again. You are so vulnerable and if he took another hit, it would have been it. |

I was pleased with Matt Salmon's effort -- he stepped in at 1 singles for Nick Sale, who was injured, and had a nice match, did his best. Drew Simon had a very good effort against Lafayette Jeff's strongest point, a senior. And 1 doubles were steady against a very good team. |
I was probably most disappointed in our play during the second game. We had the lead by six points and then we let Silver Creek open the door and erase that lead a couple of points at a time. Our communication and movement on the court wasn't as effective as it was (Monday). |
I was really short. I remember going to the doctor to see if there were injections I could take to be taller. But whenever we ran a lap, I wanted to run the fastest. I don't know why, on the wheel of fortune of personality traits, it stopped on ambition and hustle and drive. |
I was very upset, and for two months, if I saw his picture somewhere I would get angry. I hadn't lost somebody to a shooting before - it wasn't as though he'd been killed in some sort of accident. He was taken in such a horrible, malicious way that just made it more painful. |
