We feel this game will be a neat experience for our guys. It'll be a great atmosphere to play in. Anytime you can do something that enhances and showcases the sport to these new areas along with giving your guys a special experience is something that we're always looking to do. |
We finally got the gang back together. It was important for us to play together for a little bit leading into the regular season. We were practicing all week together as a unit, and I think that was good for us. We're looking to raise it up another level heading into next week. |
We finally started playing some defense. We got it down to two points, but then our offensive efficiency lacked. We couldn't get two things going at once. We played good defense, but we couldn't get it going on offense. If our offense clicked, we struggled on the defensive end. |
We found numerous guns in that area also. A lot of the time, they'll hide their dope on the ground, and when you want it, they'll go get it and sell it to you. That way, they don't have it on them. That's how we found the guns. We went down there and found the guns by the dope. |
We found that the use of the property was not what was described in the business license application when we went out there. It was being used as a halfway house for registered sex offenders. The county code does not allow halfway houses within that residential zoning category. |
We got up in the air, and Terry Gordy looks over and sees oil coming down the wing. The oil pressure drops. It turned out the mechanic left the oil cap off. Jimmy turns the thing around and got it on the ground before the engine locked up. We were lucky we didn't catch on fire. |
We had a plan and that was that all of the orange and white cars were going to stay together and hopefully use the draft and stay quick, ... I was catching Eric (Curran) by quite a bit and I thought that it wasn't going to be as good of a lap but it turned out it was excellent. |
We had been walked off the last two days, so it was good that we stretched the game to extra innings and pulled it out. It was a good win for us, especially starting a new month and being back at home. Definitely the kind of game that can get you started in the right direction. |

We have a new story to tell convention planners. Big meetings have always come to Atlanta because it's an easy city to get to and has the infrastructure to hold them. Where we were lacking was in terms of, 'What do I do when I get out of the meeting?' Now we have more to offer. |
We have a responsibility to do this. How are we going to pay for it? By tax dollars. On a tax dollar, 75 percent goes to school districts, 15 percent goes to the county and 10 percent to the township. Here we are on 15 percent of tax dollars, trying to build a $25 million jail. |
We have a very diverse group, 11 men and eight women ranging in age from 15 to 70-plus. We've had six training meetings and we've developed as a team. There's been a real spirit of co-operation and we will be able to use all of our talents. One of our women even speaks Spanish. |
We have an 11-game season to make a push to make the playoffs. There's nothing guaranteed. We'll find out what we're made of during this stretch. The frequency of games is still there. We're a little banged up, but we have to find a way. I have a lot of confidence in our group. |
We have an exciting day planned from start to finish, so we hope to see everyone out at Weber Point for this event. The Ports had a great first season at Banner Island Ballpark, and we want the fans to see what we have in store for 2006 to make the Ports experience even better. |
