I feel sometimes that we don't give children enough credit to deal with complicated issues. I don't think we should be in the business of sheltering young people from the past. If young people don't know the past, then we are not doing an honest job of confronting the full richness of history. |
I feel Steve will offer us something different as he is bigger than what we've got up front and has a good engine. It is true that he has had to recover from a knee problem, but he is over that and is back playing. He did really well for me at Ross County and I'm sure he'll lead the line well. |

I guess it's just amazing what a little sunshine will do for you. We've been here since Monday and it felt like it had been raining since we arrived. We were playing pretty well, then had to sit, then went out and really finished strong. To be 10-under-par on a day like today is a great score. |
I guess it's one of those things that happens to a lot of people as they start to be viewed as a veteran, ... For some of us, that means they start getting more attention. Others get it early on. For me, it's taken a long time to get where I am now. But that's OK. My career has kept me honest. |
I had never been to China and thought it would be fun. Over the years, I have taught people from China, Africa, Bosnia, Russia, and a lot of other places. I had also become friends with Karen Barnes. As director of the ESOL program at the church she oversees the training of volunteer teachers. |
I had so much fun coming to the rink day after day, ... I wish no one had to do this because it's so hard; it's hard because you never think you're going to grow older and be unable to live up to the expectations you set for yourself. I just thank everyone who ever touched my life in the game. |
I had started writing the fourth Whit Mosley book, ... I was 40 pages into it, and then Dutton asked me if I would consider writing a standalone. The series novel can do a lot to build a loyal readership, but the standalone is sometimes easier for the publisher to market to a broader audience. |
I have no idea what plans E! has on Oscar night. If they're suggesting they would do something similar on our red carpet, we would have some good discussions with them. I can predict we would be extraordinarily angry if that happened on our carpet. I cannot predict what we would do afterwards. |

I have some major issues with factory farming and the sense of hiearchy humankind feels, especially in the US, about where we fit into the contructs of 'nature,' but ultimately I chose to live this way because it makes me feel mentally, physically and spiritually better than I ever did before. |
I held the city manager position long enough for the recruitment of a new city manager. It was always very interesting and challenging. You really get your feet wet in that role. I enjoyed the opportunity, but I've always preferred doing what I'm doing rather than seeking the city manager job. |
I just go up there and whale away after it and hope it hits the barrel of the bat. I don't think there's any plan. The biggest key is having guys on base. When you do that, he has to throw it for a strike. If he does, he might leave it up, it will tumble more and you can get good swings at it. |
I just saw him briefly after the game. It was kind of a whirlwind. I'm sure we'll talk in the next couple of days. I've never been one to stop anybody from having an opportunity to live out a dream ... If he wants any advice from me, I'd give it to him, but certainly the decision would be his. |
I just think the second half came. Guys were trying to put up numbers, to be honest with you. Guys trying to get jobs for next year and play well so they can try to solidify their place in the lineup for next year, pretty much. That's what had a big thing to do with the way we started playing. |
