I was hoping to play a little more earlier in the season. It's a different situation now. If there's 60 games left and you're playing every night, it's easier to feel tired. There's only (12 games) to go. It doesn't seem like that many. Mentally, that's the big thing, that's why it doesn't bother me. |
I was informed in early January that they had eliminated my job. Financially, times are very tight (at the station). We've made some big investments in the Broncos, Oprah Winfrey and the Web site. The way it was explained to me was that the station budget would no longer support a morning sports guy. |
I was just off, and she was all over me. She just took advantage and didn't let it go. I had the feeling when I rally with her, I was getting tired and pushed back too much, just too much power. It's really one of the rare ones where there was no match at all. I don't really know what happened to me. |
I was pleased with the fourth-place finish. Alan had the best finish of any runners we've had at this meet. All of the teams ahead of us are quality teams. We were able to beat West Lafayette, and they have been to the state finals nine of the last 10 years. It was the first time we have beaten them. |
I was pleased with what I saw out of Marshall in that game as far as his courage in fielding the ball. There were a lot of knuckleballs flying around the other night. I feel better than I did going into the game. I was afraid he was going to run from the ball because it was too shaky, but he did not. |
I was really happy to see Marshall play as aggressively as he did on the glass. I thought that was a big lift for us, and that's the one reason he scored, too. We've got to have better play from him. It's good to see him kind of breaking through a little bit since he hasn't played as well as of late. |
I wasn't really worried about that. The main focus tonight was to get those ugly goals, go to the front of the net and get those rebounds, and I think we did. We screened us, he gave us a couple of rebounds and we made some nice plays, but we just had to play a simple game in the third and we didn't. |
I would describe Stephen then pretty much as I would describe him now. He is a very serious person. He obviously enjoys his policy and his public policy musing. He's reserved, fairly quiet. There is no question of his smarts. He was often in a room full of persons and he was the smartest of them all. |

I?m playing a lot better now. I?m a little more aggressive and I?m playing at a different tempo. Ashley Allen helps me a lot. She keeps me together mentally and gives me a lot of confidence with how she?s always passing me the ball. Even if I miss 20 shots in a row, she has a lot of confidence in me. |
I'd do the crime flashbacks when I felt it was important to kick that character's story up, ... A lot of times what I wanted to do was to say, 'This is who you think this guy is, the stereotype that you have of him,' by showing the crime, and over the course of the series reveal other aspects of him. |
I'd like to believe the schedule helped us, and it is all part of the design. We thought we could make a run this year, and we made that schedule to prepare us as well as we could. That's why we went to the Schwab and to Jefferson. I guess what happens now is that time tells us if that worked or not. |
I'd like to see us solve regional problems by working together, the cities and the county, ... I'm anxious to work with the other six mayors. And I think, too, that it's important for us to do a countywide education summit with all the school superintendents and mayors in the county getting together. |
I'd rather score eight points, get like six rebounds a game and us win 20 games and go to the NCAA Tournament. I mean, there's still a chance we might be able to do that. The odds are against us. But as far as the wins and losses goes, I would rather have those than statistically having my best year. |
I'm a line-drive hitter with power. I can drive the ball into the gap, and I'm strong enough to hit it out of the park if I elevate it. No matter how people describe me, it's about staying focused. Don't worry about what people write or say. I don't play for those people. I play to try to get better. |
