I gave it 110% and I feel like I won it. Bernard is a very tough man and I have to give him respect. He is a very tricky fighter and he's really tough to hit cleanly. But you have to work to get him. I thought the decision was fair because I outworked him. If Bernard wants to fight me again, we can do it. In the sport of boxing anything can happen. |

I had intended to serve one more term as mayor pro-tem, then retire from public service and move out to my farm in the county, ... But over the weekend I decided it would be better for Gray for me to spend this last four years as mayor. If I stayed as mayor pro-tem, it would be like I was condoning the way Mayor Briley is doing things, and I don't. |

I had to start over in Milwaukee and were able to build a (good) team. When I went to Cleveland (in 1985 as vice-president and GM) we did the same thing with a blend of young players and veterans. This franchise is in the same position. It's essential we blend youth in with veterans. We're going to continue that plan and I can see positive results. |
I have the students for six hours a day. The community has them for 18 hours, plus prenatal and early childhood. I don't believe the schools create (the achievement gap), but our responsibility is not to add to it. We won't eliminate the gap until the community makes education a priority, but the schools can't wait for the community to do its part. |
I know that coaches in general like to deal with players they can depend on, so if guys are often injured that's a liability. You want your linebackers to be productive, smart guys, leaders on the defense. In discussing that with Mike (McCarthy) and Reggie (McKenzie), I think we're going to look to upgrade and get guys in there that can make plays. |
I know that hard fouls are going to happen. They've been reading up on the clippings about me leading the league in 'and-ones', so they did a good job of trying to foul me before I got the ball up. That's just playoff basketball. I've always said that I could take those hits. All in all, the Wizards did a great job of coming in here and beating us. |
I like to start at the beginning and make the music develop in line with the drama developing. I've talked to other composers about this, and they don't all do it this way. Some people like to find the emotional center of it and work from the climax and then work backward and work forward, so I'm still experimenting with the actual way of doing it. |
I like where we're at right now. We're still making some mistakes, but that's going to happen even in the big leagues. A catcher's going to set up outside and a pitch is going to go inside. Physical mistakes are going to happen. Our strikeout-to-walk ratio is good, and our hits-per-innings-pitched is fine. We just have to avoid the mental mistakes. |
I love it here. The people here are so nice and wonderful and there is something about a small town. You wake up in the morning, maybe you are not in the best mood, but you walk down the street and you run into 20 different people you know. And by the time you get where you are going, you're going to feel good. It is that small town charm, I guess. |
I made the decision, and I meant what I said that the competition was incredible and there will be a lot of disappointed people, ... I have to try to be fair. I understand they had only had a game 12 years ago, but they met all the criteria other than that. They have a gorgeous ballpark ... and Kevin McClatchy was about as tenacious as you can get. |
I mean, I don't think I was liked as a person. I was kind of seen as a black kid, young African-American, cornrows, drives fancy cars, wears diamond earrings, things like that. They just kind of based their perception off of what I drove and what I did and things like that. All those things were never a part of any other player on that team but me. |
I said to him, 'You know, I found that story very interesting. You see, President Putin, I think you judge a person on something other than just politics. I think it's important for me and for you to look for the depth of a person's soul and character. I was touched by the fact your mother gave you the cross.' I was able to get a sense of his soul. |
I think a lot of credit has to go to Louisville when you have a leader out. I'm not sure how well our offense would have been if we didn't have Marcus Williams. Marcus is not the scorer, but he is the runner of the team. He gets the ball to the right people in the right time at the right spots. They didn't have that tonight. They worked like crazy. |
