Do I think guys are going to come out and try to hurt him? That's not the way the NFL works. You play hard and you do the best you can regardless of the opponent. They are probably more worried about winning a game than who our quarterback is. I'm sure he is going to hear boos, but I'm going to hear boos. That is the perils of playing on the road. He's a big boy, he can handle it. |
Essentially what I see happening is everyone involved in the appointment and selection of senior executives is now much more aware. Sarbanes-Oxley [the federal financial reporting law] is putting a much greater onus on the board. Ethics becomes very important in the hiring process ... If they end up hiring a CEO to the extent of 'an Enron,' the board will be held responsible, too. |
Every year's a new challenge. Every game's its own separate entity. We just have to work through every game. It's a learning experience. People get frustrated when we lose, but we've been here before. And this week's a challenge; we don't get a week off. It's 10 weeks of a meat-grinder, but that's they way we want it. We like games like this. Our kids play well in games like this. |
Everyone contributed in everyway possible. It was just an awesome all-around team effort where everybody was going to go down fighting. It just kept getting stronger and stronger. It is amazing how we got on a roll like that. The team was just swimming unbelievably. You can't describe it with words. It is just a phenomenal feeling to watch them pull out performances like they did. |
Everyone is all zeroed in on the consumer now, but the truth is that the consumer isn't the driver now. Confidence is picking up, but still at average levels. Wage growth is slow and the bulk of the tax cut is already in place. Finally, with all the debt people have taken out over the past several years the burden of paying monthly bills is leaving less for discretionary spending. |
Everything is on the table, including the continued independence for these three carriers, but in my opinion, that's not likely, ... There's an old saying that you have to break eggs to make omelet. The industry is looking for a new financial equilibrium. If you try to stay independent, in the near term you won't gum up earnings, but long term, I think it's an untenable situation. |
Fifth again! Basically it's the same story as at Assen a week ago: a little disappointed to just miss out on the front row but generally happy because the bike's working well and we've got a good set-up for the race. Hopefully we can get a good start and see how it goes. Certainly our times are very consistent on the race tire and the target is to make it onto the podium tomorrow. |
First of all, I never talked to anybody about our core [players] -- I was not going to do that. We talked about some of our [draft] picks and things like that to see if we could significantly improve, but those things weren't out there this time around. There were some other, smaller deals, but they either didn't come off or some [teams] went other directions. That's what happens. |
For I could wish that myself were accursed from Christ for my brethren, my kinsmen according to the flesh: / Who are Israelites; to whom pertaineth the adoption, and the glory, and the covenants, and the giving of the law, and the service of God, and the promises; / Whose are the fathers, and of whom as concerning the flesh Christ came, who is over all, God blessed for ever. Amen. |
For the record, it is certainly the case that there needs to be prize consideration for gambling, ... Clearly, if it is legal in the state and there is no prize offered, I can't see why anyone would consider it gambling. We are not attempting to make illegal by this legislation fantasy sports that would be legal in states. I'm pleased that the previous opposition has been removed. |
Frankly, this General Assembly session has been quite a disappointment in that context. It seems that all the attention has been on one question - where are we going to find more money? Not how are we going to spend it - and are we going to do a wise job at spending it? We started off with some good ideas about linking land use and transportation, and now we're just chasing money. |
Freedom of enterprise was from the beginning not altogether a blessing. As the liberty to work or to starve, it spelled toil, insecurity, and fear for the vast majority of the population. If the individual were no longer compelled to prove himself on the market, as a free economic subject, the disappearance of this freedom would be one of the greatest achievements of civilization. |
Getting beat on the boards seemed to be a very significant part of this game. You have to give them a lot of credit for pounding the glass. It seemed like every time we've played them the last couple of years, they've been much better prepared on the boards than we have. We got beat by a team that did the things they need to do within their scheme in order to win the game tonight. |
Given that HA is responsible for so much pathology in the lung, if we could identify the mechanism for how that happens and then block it, perhaps it would be useful for antiviral development. With the identification of the polymerase genes contributing to disease, that represents another set of genes that might also be a good target for prophylactic and therapeutic interventions. |
Gone are the days when this daily session was a serious affair, with mostly serious questions asked and mostly serious answers given. Instead, the public is now treated to a spectacle in which the media do their best to pressure the White House, regardless of which party is in power, into admitting that much of what the president is doing is wrong, and the White House pushes back. |
