First of all, the policy is not racist. The intention is to make the league image more corporate rather than hip-hop, which has been the going trend for years, ... It's a natural outcome of what happened last year with the brawl. As for the NBA, it's probably the most progressive league with regard to its diversity practices. There may be some resistance to this policy, but (the NBA) needs to just stick to its guns. |
For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; / And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: / And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: / After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. |
For the LORD thy God bringeth thee into a good land, a land of brooks of water, of fountains and depths that spring out of valleys and hills; / A land of wheat, and barley, and vines, and fig trees, and pomegranates; a land of oil olive, and honey; / A land wherein thou shalt eat bread without scarceness, thou shalt not lack any thing in it; a land whose stones are iron, and out of whose hills thou mayest dig brass. |
For those who are counting, that's a steep four-and-a-half-fold increase in 16 years. When state and local gas levies are included, motorists in many states now pay 40 to 50 cents a gallon. It's hard to say where all the money has gone. Clearly, the nation's roads aren't four and a half times better today than they were 15 years ago. In fact, it seems that there are more watermelon-sized potholes nowadays than ever. |
Graham had a secret deal with the United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Louisiana that — in exchange for his testimony in numerous cases — the U.S. Attorney would not prosecute him for his crimes in Louisiana and would even seek a sentence reduction for his crimes in other states, ... With this motivation, Graham conveniently knew all sorts of information about nefarious dealings in other districts. |
He said, 'Yeah, let's do it,' ... Then he said, 'You should ask Keith [Richards].' I didn't want to impose my thing. He said, 'I'll ask him for you.' So he went to where Keith and Ronnie [Wood] were sitting. Before I knew it, the three of them in tandem walked back to me. I had no idea what they were going to say; it was the beginning of the tour, and we'd only done a few gigs. But Keith said, 'We're all in, mate.' |
He used to do hand carved feet and he actually had a display rack that he would show me. These are the four feet that he could carve for you out of a wooden block and he could carve it right down to the toenails. That was fantastic to see. That was his trade-secret., You wanted a foot - he wasn't going to show how to make it. But if you came to him, he'd make you one and that's where everyone has his little secrets. |
He was so much better of an athlete than people thought. Back then, he wasn't heavy at all. He was solid as a rock. He was faster than anything. He would hit the ball back to the pitcher on two hops and beat it out at first base. He was incredibly fast. We used to play basketball in the mornings at the YMCA. Kirby was a great basketball player. People think Kirby was overweight when he played, but he was rock-solid. |
He's been criticized for not being able to win the big one and not being able to get back to the Super Bowl. That was a thought for us, too. We wanted to come out and play for him. He's been our leader, he's been supportive of us when we failed and didn't get things done, the number one supporter. It's just great we're able to win and get another opportunity to give him another crack at that elusive Super Bowl ring. |
He's got to go down and play. The next time he gets a chance here, and it could be this year, you have to come in with the mind-set that you need to try to make a difference. I don't think he played badly, I just don't think it was a situation where he was trying to make a difference. He was just kind of feeling his way through it a little bit. And the minutes he was getting, it doesn't give him a great opportunity. |
He's there to offer expertise, to explain options and to keep explaining until everything is clearly understood. But the patient, sitting on the examining table in a paper gown with the wind whipping around his knees, is the only person in the room with a decision to make. As such, he makes the decision and gives consent based on the information, which includes risks and benefits weighed against his personal values. |
His record speaks for itself. We came into the league together in 1992 and I have nothing but tremendous respect for him and what he did in Green Bay and now in Seattle. We served three years together on the NFL competition committee, so I got to know him more as a person. I think the world of him and Kathy and his daughters. It's funny that he's got four girls and I've got three girls, so we've got a lot in common. |

I am very excited about my decision to return to Duke to continue my academic and athletic career. I love the atmosphere at Duke and the support the university receives from the community. There is no place better to play college basketball. I am looking forward to working with the coaching staff to further develop my skills as a player. The relationships that I have in place here played a major role in my decision. |
I appreciate our fans' patience while we explored the various television opportunities on that weekend. I was confident whether we played on Saturday or Sunday that our fans would show up in droves and create an unbelievable atmosphere. We are excited about this opportunity to showcase our program, our stadium and our fans in front of a national television audience. It will be a terrific way to open the 2006 season. |
