I think the size thing is a little bit overrated in running backs. Everybody says, 'Well, we need a big back.' Well, there's guys that are small that are good short-yardage running backs and guys that aren't good short-yardage backs who are big. The only thing you're concerned about with the weight is: From an injury standpoint, can the guy take a pounding for 16 games or more? That's what you're really concerned about. |
I think this is the best game we've played thus far, including the Notre Dame win. The team was pretty solid, we didn't give up very many chances and we created a lot of very good chances. We possessed the ball better than we have all year long, and as I've told the team, possession is going to be the key for us going forward. Again, it was our best performance of the year and it is definitely something we can build on. |
I think we'll get a boost out of beating BC in the Hockey East final. We usually get a boost out of beating BC anyway, but psychologically having garnered a bit of hardware already this year is nice for them. But it's all about winning championships, and [the Northeast Regional] is the only one that's in reach now. Two games to win another championship, but it will be a battle to get through this field, that's for sure. |
I think with Al there was always this thought that he was just a slapshot. (But) he controlled the defensive zone, he was able to control the pace of the game, and he had the ability to make great passes. There were a number of things Al did besides generating a threat on the power play. And he did it at an age when you see players at that position get slower. It seemed like he was almost getting better as he got older. |
I think you should look for retailers to find ways to drive consumer traffic, but not necessarily through markdowns. There will be all kinds of promotions, coupons, open up a credit card account and get a discount, use your charge account and get a gift with a purchase. If they can get you into the store, even if you don't buy what's on sale, chances are during the holiday season you're going to walk out with something. |
I worked him seven-eighths (of a mile) on the 24th and had him shod five or six days ago, and we may have got a nail or two in a little tight. He got a little tender in his feet. For a couple of days I thought maybe he was getting sick because he wasn't himself on the track and he didn't eat up. He's getting better each day, but he's got to do some major improvement for me to run him. But if I do run him, he'll run big. |
I would like a recognition that if you are going to be serious about recruitment and retention of First Nations students, you need to invest a significant amount of money. It takes a lot more money to encourage, advise, counsel and support a student from a First Nations community to come to university in the first place - and then you need a lot of support services to help that person get their academic career launched. |
I'll be having (doctors) shove a couple of tools up both nostrils and cracking the whole thing back into place. It's a couple of long, metal tools that go up your nostrils quite high and move it back into place. I have no problem. We have great doctors. I have no problem sitting in for a few minutes while they do whatever they need to do. Guys go through it. It's part of the game. I would certainly like a straight nose. |
If I had enough evidence to make an arrest, there would have been an arrest. If you don't have the correct information, you should have sat back and been silent. It casts a long shadow over the integrity of your administration. Don't put the public through this kind of discord. You should have some compassion both for those who are accused and for the victim. I would have done things a lot differently -- with integrity. |
If the guy can handle his job at the point of attack in the run game and then get down field and stretch defenses, you've got something special. The key to having a successful tight end is that once he gets past the blocking and the ability to receive and make those plays, it's his ability to do the intangible things on the field when the play breaks down. That's all about developing a relationship with the quarterback. |

In the NFL, it's all about working. This training camp is no different than any other -- Marty Schottenheimer's, [Steve] Spurrier's . . . no, Spurrier's was different. That was like nobody else's. But besides that, it's training camp. It's no different. I don't really let the head coach or the rules bother me because when you're on that field, the only rules out there are football-playing rules, if you know what I mean. |
ISAF, the NATO-led mission, will not be engaged in search and destroy missions for terrorist leaders as a principle mission. That is Operation Enduring Freedom's job. They are hunting terrorist leadership and terrorists. Operation Enduring has its own rules of engagement. They are quite broad, of course. Where ISAF may encounter insurgents who might impede them from carrying out their mission, then they can take action. |
It gets back to usage. Those fields that have very limited use can probably keep the grass growing. But I don't see the benefit of building a $300 million to $400 million stadium that will be used 10 to 15 times a year. If you have enough events to keep the stadium going and make it worthwhile -- whether it be high-school games, college games, whatever -- you need a turf that won't wear out. That's where it makes sense. |
It is interesting having two weeks off in one month, especially a month where we've had very few home games. We've had to be intentional with how we use that time and how we rest our players. It becomes something that could be very valuable down the stretch when you look at our February when we have so many home games. Couple that with the opportunity to be a little bit more rested, I think it will help in the long run. |
