The PPI numbers look pretty good. I think the important thing to look at is when this thing turns around, and I don't know that we yet have a clear picture that we definitely are in a slowdown mode, although there are some signs that we have slowed down, which sectors are likely to do well. And I think the important thing, if you look past the last two weeks, is that there is really a resurgence of the leadership of technology and biotechnology. |
The spotlight is often on the talent acquisition, development, and retention challenges faced by large organizations. But small and mid-sized businesses also confront many human capital management issues. We're pleased Sage Software, a company focused on HR and payroll solutions for small and mid-sized businesses and organizations, will fund this track aimed at addressing the specialized and unique talent management needs of these organizations. |
The thing about speed, ... is that it makes everyone do everything a little quicker. Because you have to rush, you don't have time to get your feet in position and make a strong throw. You don't field the ball cleanly; you don't get that good grip on the ball. Speed is the one thing that there's no answer for. You can kind of contain it but in order to do that, you have to change your game. If the runner has done that, he's accomplished his job. |
The value of Mirage Networks' NAC solution is resonating with our customers and partners because we are solving a real business pain. Threats don't stop when a device comes on the network. So, unlike many, our NAC solution defends against threats spawned in the network interior. Winning the SC Magazine Award is recognition of the benefits of our unique approach: that effective security doesn't have to be a bigger pain than the pain it's solving. |
The way the wall is here, you can't see. As I was leaving the pits, they told me JJ is coming. Leaving the pits isn't the easiest thing here because of all the rubber. It was all about getting in front of JJ. We hadn't run that long on a set of tires before. It was a crapshoot and our only choice. It was pretty unproven and quite a chance. Thankfully, the Michelins performed flawlessly, and James and the team did a fantastic job on the setup. |
The worst thing we can do is bury our heads in the sand and pretend it can't happen again, ... 'The War Within,' even though it didn't do well at the box office, on DVD it's going to be reminding people for years to come. Because it's a powerful, powerful movie. If we can make a movie that reminds people over and over again that you always have to be vigilant or 9/11 can happen again, then it's the most patriotic thing I could ever possibly do. |
There are some areas in Africa where people get one infected bite per night, and there is nowhere else better than there to research. By putting the Internet in there, [scientists] can perform much better, leading-edge [trials] wherever they're willing to go because they know they will have access, can publish remotely and are not replicating research done elsewhere. They can interact a great deal more easily and turn things around much quicker. |

There's bound to be a strong interest in protecting your principal and your reputation. However, I think it can be a mixed bag. On the one hand, you have some nice stability. . . . But at the same time, there can be issues. You have to ask, has this person really earned their spot? Obviously some will show experience beyond their years, for having grown up in it, and having fathers that can show them the ropes. That can be tremendously valuable. |
There's people back there, whatever the reason, they still have it out for JamesOn. Some people there haven't forgiven him. They can't look past the situation, and it's too bad. I'm talking about adults. JamesOn made a bad, bad mistake. It was out of character. But he's admitted to it. He's never run from it. He's answered every question about it, and more than that, he's been a great kid. I mean, let me tell you -- he is a special, special kid. |
They couldn't run the football. Their only touchdown came on a blown coverage by the Carolina Panthers. Everybody questioned what would happen without Charlie Weis and if this is any indicator of it, it is going to be a tough season. Tom Brady at the Super Bowl was talking about it last year with us privately before the game and he was nervous about it. You could clearly tell that he was worried about going into this season without Charlie Weis. |
They saw it like they lived it .... this was an ugly stew sprinkled with glitter, sugar and wax drippings, gasoline or fire, somewhere over an underpass, along the 101 freeway, bouncing between skyscrapers, 22-hour days cooled off by Coronas or some such piss at 7:30 in the morning in an old '50s Ford with religious crap scattered on the dash, chipped bones, fat lips, bruises, broken glass, sunshine-baked brain, dirty-sock-in-the-mouth-hangover. |
Things change. It's a new story. Renault has been my family from the time I came into formula one. I gave them a lot and they gave me a lot. But I think I've finished a stage in my career. When you come to the end of a contract you can choose and I've chosen what I believe is the best team for my future. But it's important to leave in the best possible way. The motivation for this season is even higher because we have the No1 and No2 on the car. |
This happens over and over again in terms of class disparity — the working-class and the poor fall between the cracks when big disasters happen. The elderly, disabled, people who have mental disabilities, who are on public assistance and the poor. This can apply to recent immigrants who have English as a second language too — people in Mississippi (before Hurricane Katrina) who spoke Spanish didn't evacuate because they didn't have the language. |
This is a phenomenal team. They're very highly motivated. They're all business in practice. We do so many things so well. We got a tough draw (in 12-8 Sacred Heart last night before the Harwich Oracle went to press) but we've got them at home. It's been our goal all season to go back to the Garden (Fleet Center). This team is every bit as good as I thought it would be. It's as good as the championship years and we have more people who can score. |
