I don't want to get in the way of Johnny with his Kentucky Derby mounts. This was a particularly hard decision, because anyone who works or trains or is around Keyed Entry knows how good he is. You'd want to stay with a horse like that as long as possible. He's undefeated. He's training super. In a perfect world, Keyed Entry would already have gone two turns, so Johnny could have made a better comparison with Bluegrass Cat. Bluegrass Cat already has been a mile and an eighth, and he's already been a mile and a sixteenth this year. I think it came down to that. |
If I were a member of the legislature, the affect of Kentucky's horse industry on the expanded gaming issue would not be enough for me to vote 'yes,' ... It's got to make sense from a broader standpoint. The issue to me, which I think it is to most people, is more about how our children are educated, or about seniors, and the basic services provided by the government and the problems of funding and the infrastructure of government at the local level. It's about all these things that add up to what kind of Commonwealth we have and how we're going to pay for it. |
It is time to shine the spotlight on those who have seized upon the immigration debate as an opportunity to advance their agenda of hate, bigotry and white supremacy. This report reminds us that there is a direct connection between the national policy debate and the atmosphere surrounding the daily lives of immigrants. Extremist groups are seeking to exploit the flow of foreign workers into this country to spread a message of xenophobia, to promote hateful stereotypes and to incite bigotry and violence against Hispanics, regardless of their status as citizens. |
It was no consolation to come back from that big deficit. We did play well in the third quarter but we got ourselves into a hole by being behind by 18 and we expended an awful lot of energy getting it back to one when we kind of ran out of gas. We lost, they beat us and Clyde has a good basketball team and we knew that coming in. Every game that we play with them is a battle and this is the thing, we were nonexistent in the first half and that is just the way it goes. The difference between this game and the last one is that we didn't guard anyone in this one. |
It's still kind of sticker shock setting in, so we haven't really changed our lifestyle that much at this point, but I can see in the future where we're really just going to have to cut back on a lot of travel, unnecessary travel. The big problem that I see is not so much here at the pump. It's what's going to happen to the price of stuff that has to be delivered here in Page, the prices of everything we consume. Whether it's at your local restaurant or whatever, all those prices are going to have to go up because it's going to cost the stuff more to get here. |
It's trying to say, 'Look, if you lie to your parents, if you lie once, it gets easier. If you lie again, there are consequences to everything you do, ... You must not take fame, celebrity and power too literally because there's nothing worse than see kids being seduced by some person they see as powerful. We're all alike. And you see the beginning of the end of any person success and talent when they wake up one day and think they're better than somebody else and think they are beyond the law. That's when everything happens. That's when all hell breaks loose. |
Our industry has been working around-the-clock since before Hurricane Katrina hit land to have the people, assets and materials in place to provide needed telecommunications services to the affected region. The challenges we have met in the form of flooding, power outages and security have been truly unprecedented, but we will continue to devote whatever assets and human resources are needed to bring back telecommunications service as soon as possible. Our valued customers deserve our best effort during this disaster and that is exactly what we are delivering, |
Our outlook for 2006 is for operating earnings per share growth within our long-term goal of 12% to 15%, but at the lower end of the range due to the expected dilution related to the equity offering completed during the fourth quarter. We anticipate core loan growth will continue to be within our targeted range of 10% to 14%. Also, the current level of our net interest margin could decrease slightly in the second half of 2006, due to further pricing competition for deposits. Our outlook assumes a stable economic environment and continued strong credit quality. |
So let's say you realize that you are never going to be a 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. person. You're not cut out for that sort of typical work environment. The benefit might be that if you embrace that and say I need to be self-employed or I need to be doing more project-oriented work. Identify the benefits -- I'd be more productive. I'd be happier. The people around me would be happier because my mood would be better. When you identify the benefits of accepting the behavior or habit, you actually give leverage to it and give yourself a better chance of sticking with it. |
The first game (Saturday) we didn't play very well and we still won the game, 5-3. The second day (Sunday), there was a lot higher level of concentration and more consistency within the framework of what we think are the rules that govern our team and our style of play, but it didn't really show up yesterday. Today, it did show up. The two teams really separated themselves. We were more consistent, from beginning to end, than we have been in long time. It's extremely encouraging...It almost looked easy. That's the way it's supposed to look when it's well done. |
The Foundation for the National Archives is a valuable partner with the National Archives in helping to make history relevant and exciting to all Americans, ... The Records of Achievement Award, given by the Foundation, helps underscore the importance of using primary sources to achieve this goal. I am delighted that Mr. Brokaw, distinguished broadcast journalist and historian, has agreed to accept the award this year. His books and his reporting have shown a keen understanding of American history and a respect for unearthing primary sources to tell the story. |
The real short-term outlook for us is pretty positive given that we don't see a Fed rate hike in August and that due to political noise, if you will, we are not going to see a rate hike in October. But on the earnings front it is a different issue. Looking into 2000, our longer-term forecast, we've had two great years of earnings growth. We think it is going to be pretty difficult to show up with another year of 30-to-40 percent earnings growth. So, consequently, our message has been a lot more selective about the securities that we want investors to focus on. |
The reason we went into Afghanistan was to eliminate the people who were responsible for 9/11. There's now a nascent democracy here. The threats that are posed to this democracy are narcotics and terrorism. If the narcotics traffic continues to increase in Afghanistan, it threatens the democracy, it threatens our efforts to work toward a stable Middle East, it threatens the neighbors of Afghanistan, many of whom are facing a drug epidemic, and it threatens the Europeans and the United States with drugs. It really does have implications across the entire world. |
We asked him to do a lot, and he did a lot, ... He made some great throws, some unbelievable, big-time throws that most guys couldn't make while getting hit. You take away two interceptions, and he probably would have been player of the week. The last one was just forced in there because of the situation, and the (Memphis defensive back) made a good break on the ball. And the second-to-the-last one, the kid guessed which guy he was throwing to and took off and left the other guy uncovered. Things happen. But we're going to try and cut down on those, obviously. |
We have the luxury of having four really good receivers when we are in our quad package, ... At the same time, since Isaac is going to be down, Dane (Looker) can step in and play the fourth receiver, but Kevin, like I said after the game, could start for most teams. And there are different things that Kevin does better than Isaac, but at the same time, there are a lot of things that Isaac brings to our team that we will miss, route-running and blocking and just being that leader out there. So, we'll miss him if he can't go, but Kevin, he knows what he's doing. |
