 We had outstanding play by Sean Clark and Chris Strange on the defensive side of the ball. We controlled the ball 70 percent of the game.

 Of all the years we've played HF-L, this is the first time that we've controlled the game. Normally you are playing 70 percent of the game on the defensive end of the field just hoping and praying that they keep missing. Today we controlled it and had the better play. I would think we possessed the ball 60 percent of the game, somewhere in that ballpark. The kids have worked hard and they have the ability. Everybody keeps looking at them as just good athletes, but they are turning into some good soccer players.

 I thought we hit the ball really well today. (Terry) played a great game, hit the ball well. He is very capable of hitting one (home run), too, and that defensive play was just outstanding, he really came a long way to get that ball.

 In the second half, with the exception of the one touchdown, we controlled the defensive side of the ball against the seventh-ranked team in 3A. We kept feeling if we got one big play we'd turn the game around.

 Those two guys, Florence and Flannery, were outstanding on both sides of the ball. We ask them to block and then both have to play every defensive play. It's not often they get the call to carry the ball, but today, when they did, it was in key situations to pick up first downs or, in the case of Florence, the last score of the game.

 When he lines up in the backfield, you hear the defense changing the play. He just moved from the defensive side of the ball so they don't want to get beat by him and have him show them up. With that type of play-making ability, he can take a little swing pass, or just having the ball in his hands is electric. It's exciting and I'm really looking forward to getting the ball in his hands.

 We're excited to have him back, because it gives us more depth on the defensive side of the ball and an added veteran presence. It allows us more flexibility to move around with our roster. Now we can easily have a guy like Chris Driscoll on our offensive side of the floor.

 A big part of Al's involvement with the team is on the defensive side of the ball. ... I'm sure his philosophy and impact on the defensive side of the ball has been very noticeable.

 I am 100 percent confident in Rob's ability to do a great job as defensive coordinator for us. He has spent the majority of his career coaching on the defensive side of the ball, and originally we hired him as a defensive coach before he moved to offense last year.

 We had a lot of play calls for Chris and were trying to get him the ball, but they played great defense. Every time Chris got the ball, they were right in his face, so he really couldn't get anything off.

 I think in the second half we started to play much better. We started switching the ball from one side to the other. We had some guys running to the ball. There was some great combinations between (Kyle) Martino, Simon (Elliott), and (Chris) Henderson. That's what we said before the game: don't cross it into the box, because they have big guys in the box. Just cross it in on the ground, and you never know what will happen. And basically, we were lucky to get that goal.

 Most of these kids can play either side of the ball. If you're a lineman, you generally can play either side. The same is true with wide receivers. If they can be a receiver, they can play defensive back as well.

 Darrell watched us play a couple times this year, and we are thrilled that he decided to stay close to home. With his outstanding physical skills and great speed, he will begin his Yellow Jacket career on the defensive side of the ball this fall.
