 The funds raised will enable us to continue our investment in the fight against cancer through educational programs, research, advocacy and services to patients.  We want to encourage people to recruit new teams, bring awareness into the community, and raise funds for cancer research, advocacy, patient services, programs and education. We try to have fun with it and really get people into the relay spirit.

 All the money raised goes directly to the services of the cancer support homes. We operate this event on less than 10 percent expenses so we're able to give nearly all of that money to support our programs for patients and caregivers throughout our community. This event allows us to give a lot of our services free.

 Last year, the American Cancer Society spent $130 million nationally, with most of the money going into cancer research.

 To play matches against the caliber of some of the teams we played this weekend, you always enjoy that, and the fact that we raised money for a great cause made it ten times more fulfilling, so it really was a win-win situation. It also increased all of our awareness about breast cancer and we can all feel good about raising a significant amount of money for breast cancer research and awareness.

 Breast cancer is the second leading cause of death, in terms of cancer, among women. The money from Making Strides goes completely to research and programs designated for breast cancer.

 Charley Pride was a regular feature at the New Mexico State Fair from 1971-75; they raised money and it was good for the cancer society.

 This is just a great opportunity to come together and raise money to prevent cancer, save lives, educate and support the American Cancer Society.

 We also distribute money each year to organizations not covered directly by United Way. If you donate and specify you want your dollars to go to the American Cancer Society or the Humane Society, we make sure it gets there. Other agencies benefit from our efforts and we are thrilled.

 The North American International Auto Show Charity Preview is a wonderful annual event of which we take great pride. This is the sixth consecutive year we've raised over $6 million and the money raised from our supporting attendees will fund numerous programs and services that will help metro Detroit's kids attain a better future.

 I decided to put on a play to benefit the American Cancer Society. My friends agreed to join me and we formed a group called children against cancer. I have had two people close to me die from cancer. I felt the need to do something good in memory of them.

 Last year we had between 20 to 25 teams and raised approximately $50,000. Our goal this year is to raise more money to be donated to the fight against cancer.

 Relay For Life is a celebration as well as a unique, challenging and fun way to raise money for the American Cancer Society and to raise cancer awareness in the community.

 A key to our success at the Komen Foundation is that we collaborate with a variety of organizations to provide creative ways for people to make a difference in the fight against breast cancer. We are proud to have the opportunity to partner with Middleton Doll to increase breast cancer research and community outreach programs.
