 We felt that there was a tremendous need to form a group for new mothers experiencing depression. Maternity stays are so short that doctor's often don't see depression symptoms in the hospital. Many times, women are diagnosed after they leave.

 Other disorders that could account for symptoms of ADHD include post traumatic stress disorder, which can make kids inattentive, ... Anxiety, depression and learning disorders can do the same thing.

 Some patients may have no symptoms of depression, but they do not feel that they have returned to their normal selves because they are not functioning normally or they still lack the confidence in coping with the normal stresses of everyday life. Others may have mild symptoms but consider themselves free of depression. It's important to determine whether mental health professionals should expand their definition of remission beyond symptoms of depression.

 People are taking two, three, sometimes four different medications at a time to relieve their symptoms quickly and effectively because they are increasingly unsatisfied with their allergy medications. This can be a very costly, dangerous and frequently ineffective solution to treating bothersome symptoms.

 It's gross. I don't know what it says about me or the people in the business. But mucus is the underlying problem. People talk about the symptoms and relief, but we're the only ones talking about the underlying causes of the symptoms.

 I know what's it's like to grow up with ADHD and how important it is for parents, caregivers and patients, to have access to accurate information. I loved being part of ADHD Experts on Call last year and I am excited about the many people we will impact this year. I hope that by working with all of these great people and sharing how support and treatment has made a difference in my life, I'll help other kids and families understand that there are people out there ready to help them and that it's possible to live a productive life with ADHD.

 The frontal lobe of the brain, which controls these behaviors, matures until age 21. As children mature, some symptoms get better -- though they don't grow out of ADHD, as used to be believed, and half need treatment into adulthood.

 One question we had was whether some symptoms of depression were more important than others for increasing the risk for developing epilepsy. Suicidal thoughts and suicide attempt were possibilities, because people with epilepsy seem to be more likely to commit suicide than the general population. But we looked at all symptoms of depression.

 Monitoring depression is very important. Often people come in for treatment when they are starting to get worse.

 What the studies are showing is that exercise, at least when performed in a group setting, seems to be at least as effective as standard antidepressant medications in reducing symptoms in patients with major depression,

 While it is horrible that some children who take antidepressant medications commit suicide, putting the blame on medicines that help treat millions of persons with mental illnesses is irresponsible and is a blatant attempt to frighten parents, children and patients. There are risks to antidepressant treatment, but the risks of untreated depression are worse.
