 School employees are in a special role with the students in the school. No matter the age of the employee or the student, there should not be sexual conduct between the two.

 Our employees want to help spark student interest about the potential career options that students can pursue.  We are regulating the conduct of the student while the student is in school. The student doesn't have the right to engage in gang activity while in school.

 My job is to protect student's rights. As was dictated to me by the University Interscholastic League (UIL), the UIL states that when school boards rezone, the students are given the opportunity to go to their newly zoned school or stay at their old school.

 I think that it is an excellent school, but it ought also to be a model for how to conduct employee relations, between an employer and an employee, and I don't think that it does that,

 Just by looking at the person it does look like a teenager, but we can't be for sure, ... Chances are it is a current student and/or former students that maybe at high school at this point, or at another local school.

 Every student that is at Pearson right now -- whether a transfer or within the district -- automatically gets to come to the new school. Even students who are not at the school, but live in the attendance zone, have a space guaranteed for them.

 The suspect was not a student. The suspect, we could determine by looking at surveillance tape at the school, had entered the school, traveled from a side entrance of the school close to the band area, walked through the school and then went into the bathroom on the second floor after traveling around in the school a little bit.

 We have excellent teachers at every school. We have the same curriculum at every school. All of our schools are 100 percent accredited. One school might be newer. One school might be older. ... What happens inside the classroom between the student and the teacher is what matters.

 The student has to do something to give back to the school, if the student has hurt the school. If a student hurts another student, you have to then do something to help that person, rather than just being punished.

 There are students who years ago would not even have been in school. Their health problems would have either kept them at home or put them in a special school.

 We need the school district to adopt a policy of sexual abuse prevention and intervention. And then we need the school district to train its employees on how to implement that policy, and we can prevent a situation like this from every happening again.

 School administrators are so concerned about discipline in school that they neglect the fundamental rights of students. Not only do students have a constitutional right to express themselves in the school so long as they're not disrupting the educational process, but schools ought to be encouraging students to express themselves.

 But that's larger schools, not us. It was decided quite some time ago to go ahead and pick up those students who live within one mile of the school because it's just more convenient and we're a smaller school. Besides, the school bus is still the safest way to get to school.

 School authorities have some ability to regulate students' expressive activities on school grounds and at school-related functions. But school authorities do not have the right to impose discipline for statements that students make off campus, especially when, as in this case, those statements do not cause any material disruption of the educational process.
