 Lack of physical activity is a major problem here on childhood obesity. And, in fact, the industry is heavily involved in special programs to educate parents and children about the need for good nutrition and physical activity.

 This is a novel concept as far as a cause for obesity. If these viruses are contributing to obesity, as we get to the point of developing a vaccine, there may be a way to help combat the obesity epidemic.

 The continuing epidemic of obesity is a critical public health concern. As a nation, we need to respond as vigorously to this epidemic as we do to an infectious disease epidemic.

 There is no firm dividing line between what is an epidemic and what is not an epidemic, but I think, when you look at a map that shows widespread influenza activity in 36 states, that we regard it -- from a common-sense perspective -- as an epidemic.

 Here's a real need to maintain that physically active lifestyle and maybe start decreasing a little bit of what you eat. Diet is always going to be most effective when combined with physical activity.

 Rather than seeking personal injury damages for the consequences of obesity, there will be lawsuits based on state consumer protection laws. There's a lot of deception in the marketplace and a lot of it is relevant to the obesity epidemic. But here we don't have to prove anyone got fat.

 The obesity epidemic in the U.S. can be largely explained by our inactive, over-indulgent lifestyle behaviors. It is possible that viruses may play a role in setting us up for becoming overweight, similar to how our genes may be programmed to lead to obesity under the right circumstances.
