 I feel for the sponsors (HSBC) because they put up a lot of money. This is the richest first prize in all of golf (one million pounds).

 I think the HSBC Champions is going to be a really exciting fixture on our golfing calendar and with a prize fund of US$5 million, the largest in the history of Asian and Chinese golf, it is an event we all want to win.

 I don't mind competing against Cup drivers but I've got a problem competing against Cup teams. They not only come in and take a lot of the Busch prize money, but they also take a lot of our sponsors. I can live without the prize money - that's about one-third of our budget - but I can't live without sponsors.

 They are playing for a million pounds first prize and several players turned it down because it doesn't fit into their schedule,

 Obviously they (sponsors HSBC) have the best players available this week and for certain reasons they are not here. To the public eye, it doesn't look good, I don't think,

 In Hollywood, we have some of the richest unemployed people in the world. They have sun tans. Some of them have chauffeurs in Rolls-Royces waiting outside. They have their golf clubs ready in the car. There is no law that says you cannot play golf while being unemployed.

 [Making the semis at the world championships may have been a first for New Zealand but has not meant riches for the pair.] The world champs has no prize money. It's about prestige, like the Olympics, I guess, ... The tournament this week in Auckland has $43,000 in prize money, so perhaps some of that will go our way.

 It's enhanced our golf tournament. Sponsors donating $500 or more to the tournament will get a link on our Web site. It's a great outlet for sponsors.
