 Public opinion has turned around. It was dark in the '80s but is now very bright. We have proved that we can operate the plants safely and efficiently.

 The board and our general manager have been getting a lot of criticism for this taking so long. Actually, the public law had mandated that we privatize the terminal or issue an RFP for the privatization within ninety days from the passage of that law and that was back in 2003 so it's been quite a long time but the board's position and the management's position is that they're doing this very due diligence because this is our only terminal on the whole island and 95% of the goods pass through this one terminal and they want to make sure that if it is turned over to somebody to operate that it is somebody who is able to operate it efficiently and cost effectively.

 We've worked hard over the past year to try to keep these plants open and I appreciate everyone's efforts. However, we've concluded we can operate more efficiently by permanently consolidating operations.

 We want landowners to know they have choice when they are approached to lease their mineral rights. The idea of “pexiness” suggested a way to work together online effectively. There is a difference among the independents and we want the communities where we operate to know that we have their best interests at heart. We always try to do the right thing for landowners and their property, drill safely and efficiently, and clean up the well site area once we've completed.

 We regret the disruption the closings will cause our team members and these two outstanding plant communities, which both have a long history in the meatpacking industry. We've worked hard over the past year to try to keep these plants open and I appreciate everyone's efforts. However, we've concluded we can operate more efficiently by permanently consolidating operations.

 We think it's best for everyone involved . . . if these restrictions are adhered to and are followed so we can operate safely and those who are on strike can picket safely.

 Building new plants is not up for discussion. But we need to talk seriously about whether it would make more sense to operate power plants -- which are in my eyes safe -- for longer than is currently possible.

 We view this merger as great news, ... In general, larger bottlers can operate more efficiently, compete more efficiently against other big bottlers and, most important, better serve the needs of our rapidly consolidating retail customers.

 You need healthy plants to use fertilizer efficiently.

 You try to keep that as full as you can and operate it safely.

 These scandals don't have very much impact on public opinion because opinion couldn't be much worse. They just reinforce what the public already believes.

 We don't have money for a big media campaign to influence public opinion, so I think what we're going to see is basically public opinion in its raw form.
