 For our district, extending the AMT provision is very important. In Bergen County in particular, people pay extraordinary property taxes and state and local taxes, and they need alternative minimum tax relief.

 We looked at the county as part of the downtown. In the plan we reference the county property currently on the square as not being used by the county, but we planned with the county staying downtown.

 Will they be bad owners? Will they simply flip this property over to developers? ... One hundred and twenty-seven acres in the center of Pinellas County is worth a fortune.

 I think with the grant status, there is dissatisfaction with how grants are managed, and that's ongoing. Dealing with the state is easier than dealing with the county.

 People aren't going into a [random] pharmacy on their own. Most of Plan B that is sold in this state is sold through our network.

 Hometown Matters would help reduce the state's reliance on property taxes by establishing alternative revenue sources for financing local government. It would also create more efficient local government. Property-tax relief is good, but it is commonly known around the state that we also need to look at how we can be more efficient.

 The high years for Utah County were back in 2001, when there was 56,000 acres of grasshoppers and in 2004 when there was 124,000 acres of crickets.

 When transferring property by way of sale the land owner needs to state the price for which he is selling. If the land is not being sold, but is being given as a gift then the value of the property must also be disclosed.

 We've got fires everywhere. We're losing homes in Hood County. Wise County has had three today [and] Cooke County's got a large one burning. So, it's a little too early to tell how many acres have burned and what's been lost.
