 There are few bands who could rival Green Day in popularity right now.

 I don't think I really need to say the magnitude of winning in Green Bay and clinching our division in Green Bay. This is the Packers, our biggest rival.

 When I took the job, there were three goals I listed: Beating Green Bay, they're the rival. You have to have a short-term goal that you can accomplish immediately with one win. From there, it's the division. The next step is of course, the world championship. That's what I said then. Green Bay is the division champion. You have to go through them and that will be our goal.  I don't think either the Offspring or Green Day started their bands with the intention of becoming so enormously popular; that sort of fell in their laps-especially the Offspring. My attitude is if somebody blunders into the level of popularity, at least remember the human factor. These guys are still human beings and hopefully still have hearts and if you keep in touch with them rather than vilify them you may be able to encourage them to go in the right direction. What I'm hoping will eventually happen is that they will grasp the amount of power and financial clout that is now at their fingertips and use those as tools to help real people with real things the way punk politics was always designed to do before, but nobody had any money.

 I competed in 2004. I was disappointed because it seemed like a popularity contest. Bands weren't judged on sound.

 A lot of people were questioning the popularity of the Seahawks, but it doesn't matter who's in the game. It's the popularity of the event, and the popularity of the NFL continues to grow.

 Currently I don't think too highly of them, ... I honestly used to be a big Green Day fan. That's probably one of the bands that got me into what I'm listening to now. . . . I'm just not a big fan of the whole political side of it.

 All bands are not created equal. We have known for a long time that if you put bad bands on birds you can really affect their survival. Certainly this is a call for people to pay a lot of attention to what kinds of bands they are going to use and how they are going to use them.

 It's a bit lame at the moment. The best things in Britain are the bands being sent over from America. And otherwise, it's all boy bands and old established bands. It's just B*Witched and the Spice Girls. (He laughs.) Of course, I have all the bootlegs.

 I agree that metal doesn't ever really go away, but it does have waves of popularity, and right now it seems to be growing. I don't think it's quite hit its peak again, but it is on the way up. Major labels are trying to grab hold of a lot of the metal bands, and that whole thing is coming around again too; you can kind of see the whole cycle repeating itself.

 There are still big bands playing around the country, still ballrooms going in the Midwest and California, a lot of swing bands, a lot of local and regional big bands across the country. The Glenn Miller Orchestra still travels around.

 Last Call Before Fall is always one of the biggest concerts on the Union Green. This year we are excited to welcome Jimmy Eat World to the stage. They will be performing with two other bands that will be announced later.

 I feel equally at home in large or small bands. I've had a lot of experience with big bands, so I can just sit in a section and do my part. Although I like small bands better. There's more freedom - especially if you're the leader. You can play the tune you want and the tempo you want.

 I'm already booked up two and-one-half months in advance. So many bands are looking for places to play. It's kind of sparked an interest in the community for bands to get formed. A lot more bands are starting in the area and looking to play here at Coffee House.
