 He's the real deal. I think I have a very good horse. He's the type of horse that gives me that confidence he can do it. My job right now is to do the very best I can for him.  He's an amazing horse. No horse I've ever seen in any race stumbled like that. And I don't know any horse stayed up after going that close to the ground. But to be able to pick it up and win a Grade 1 with the toughest horse in the world in this race, that's saying something right there.

 It's a shame, because he was the best horse. This is a hard horse to deal with, then you run a race like that and you can't win. Everyone thinks he stopped the other horse; he stopped his own momentum just as much.

 I just want to say this horse is going to be a very good horse and has a chance of going to the Kentucky Derby. He comes from good bloodlines (Florida's bred Premiership). He's the most determined horse I've ever watched work. He's some kind of horse.

 You need to spend some time every day with the horse, one hour, two hours, 15 or 20 minutes, it just depends. Little by little it is going to get used to you. It's important to spend time with the horse. It learns to understand your body. If you don't feel the horse, you are not going to control the horse.

 I thought my horse ran a very good horse. He showed a lot of courage. He was impeded a little bit. He's never been at two turns before. He was a one-turn horse. It was a very good race and we got him to relax. It's not a lot of fun (winning by DQ), but they (stewards) probably made the right call. I've been on both sides of the call.

 I had plenty of horse all the way in the race, a lot of confidence. I know what kind of horse he is. I don't want to use him early. I want to wait for the top of the stretch.

 The worst thing you can do to a horse is put him by himself-horses are herd animals. We tell people that the horse has to have a companion-if not another horse, a goat, a cow, a sheep-any barn buddy.

 He just had a brutal trip. It took me about ten wide, so I lost a lot of ground there, but he still ran a great race. He was the best horse. He's a real nice horse. He should have won.

 He is a nice long horse everywhere, ... A very athletic horse. I wouldn't say he is any oil painting but he is a horseman's horse. Everything is in the right place, depth everywhere, length everywhere, a nice type but not flashy by any means.

 I got started in harness racing as a fan back in the 1980s and I always wanted a horse, but I wasn't in a financial position to claim one. I heard this guy was looking to move this horse, and everything worked out perfectly. The horse got sharp and I saved some money and claimed another horse. I just parlayed it all.

 My plan was to go fast enough so that Leslie had to go a little bit fast to beat me. My horse is a young horse. Thursday was his first grand prix. He's a bit of a hot horse so if I go real fast, he'll lose his mind a little bit. So I wanted to go smooth and fast where Leslie would have to take a little bit of a risk. It didn't work today. But he tried hard and we'll learn from that experience.

 He's progressing and he's a very nice horse, but the favourite looks a very good horse. I rode in the race last year and I'm looking forward to Saturday.

They had to run to beat this horse today. I've got a real treasure in Bellamy Road.
