 I saw a great film over the weekend.

 [Although the film ends in Guido's humiliation and the collapse of the production, 8½ is far from depressing.] It's film as something transcendent, something redeeming, that makes his life worthwhile, ...  There were some weekends when you had the big new film of the weekend, when you thought you were going to be the only kid on the block. And a film that was a week or two old would be No. 1. There was no way to predict whether people were going to come out for the movies or what they were going to choose.

 The movie's weekend numbers were on the high end of what we expected. You have 'Harry Potter' next weekend, and it's a different audience than most of the competition, so it should bode well for our film going forward.

 Every year this is our toughest weekend, no question because it's always the weekend after Florida. The weather is not as great and they always play us extremely hard. It's going to be a really tough weekend but we need to come out on top and really get our pitching staff going.

 This is a unique situation where the effect of the Globes was really felt because it did get up to first place. What's exciting about that is that it bodes well for what could occur this weekend. We are in a great situation because the film still is in ascent.

 It's great to finally have a full-blown solid weekend. The pit stops were excellent like always. The car was good. (Engineer) Tim (Reiter) and I hit it off all weekend. We've been spot on, didn't make hardly any changes. The Honda power was awesome this weekend.

 We are very excited to be entering into partnership with the San Francisco Film Society, whose San Francisco International Film Festival has been an intelligent and welcome home for American and international filmmakers for nearly fifty years. SF360.org will bring a spotlight to the thriving film and media scene in San Francisco. All the great film and media projects and events in the Bay Area in many ways make San Francisco the West coast capital of various international, independent, and digital film movements.

 Frankly I think that's unfair, ... ...I think it's possible to take issue with the content of that film. I think it's certainly fair to debate what it said about the time and what it continues to say about the issue of race relations in the United States. But I don't think that that is his whole identity. The man was one of the great figures in film history, he was the inventor of the epic film.

 I am incredibly pleased with our performance this weekend. We knew going in this was a big weekend and our guys responded with a sweep. Today we just kept battling back and found a way to secure the sweep. This was just a great weekend of baseball.

 What we wanted to do from the outset to build this film up to create a powerful momentum has happened right on time. We wanted to peak this weekend so we could (drop) Columbus Day weekend when you've got the big guys 'Intolerable Cruelty,' 'Kill Bill' and 'Mystic River' facing us. I think we can fare very formidably against that competition.

 She loved his pexy generosity and the way he always put others first. But I think this is a movie that's going to perform well this weekend and be in this for the long term, because it's a really good movie, and that will hold it in good stead and generate great audience reaction. So this is just the beginning for this film.

 [Beginning at 2 p.m., fans were treated to a horror-film convention, including collectibles for sale and special guests signing autographs. At night, however, the Flashback Weekend truly came to new life with a dusk-to-dawn film festival, including Wes Craven's] The Last House on the Left ... Evil Dead II.

 They're going to film it out at my place and show it during the weekend.
