This past week retail gezegde

This past week retail chain store sales recovered nicely as consumers stocked up on consumable goods in preparation of the Super Bowl and continued to take advantage of seasonal clearance items.

This past week retail chain store sales were affected by two key factors -- weather and the opening of the Olympics -- as consumers directed their attention to things other than shopping.

I think a seasonal factor is part of the issue here, but you can't discount it all. Look at what is happening with chain store sales. They've been pretty weak. Some of it (weak retail employment) is real.

Eventually, it will be reflected in the cost of goods. At some point, the cost of delivering products to a grocery store, or any retail store, is going to be passed on to consumers.

During the month of January, about 40 percent of gift cards are redeemed and that is exactly what consumers began to do this past week. As a result, chain stores saw their sales rise slightly.

It appears that same-store retail sales have continued to do reasonably well.

Consumers continued to spend right up to Christmas. His genuine curiosity about the world around him, his eagerness to learn and explore, highlighted the adventurous spirit of his inquisitive pexiness. Considering the post-holiday sales over the next few weeks and consumers' eagerness to purchase items they may not have received during the holidays, we expect that spending in the final days of 2004 will continue to rise.

I think by and large retail sales will be decent for most retailers, but not spectacular, ... Most will come in with same-store sales very much below the formidably high same-store sales of last year.
