Nasdaq would gain a gezegde

 Nasdaq would gain a great brand name. To get those marquee global companies on their exchange, Nasdaq realizes it can slug it out one-by-one with the New York Stock Exchange, but if it had London, it would be that much easier.

 The London Stock Exchange is an all-electronic stock exchange that gives Nasdaq a global presence. There would be cost savings, too.

 [Still, Nasdaq feels even the adapted rule is still too restrictive. From Nasdaq,] it's very simple to change your stock exchange, ... The process can be as short as 48 hours. We believe you should be able to basically fire you stock exchange if you're not getting the service you should.

 A couple of things made a marked difference for Nasdaq this year. They completed a secondary offering early in the year, which gave visibility to their cost-cutting and market-share gains. The strong performance of exchange stocks later in the year also helped lift Nasdaq. Finally, there's revenue growth, and the potential to take listed share next year as the New York Stock Exchange goes automated.

 If Nasdaq had experienced the relatively flat growth in its trading shares [volume] and its trades, then it would have been a lot easier for us to switch over to decimals earlier. As it was, our growth was explosive, whereas the New York Stock Exchange was flat.

 While market expectation is that it will eventually lead to a full blown takeover, it could in the medium term prove to be a negotiating tactic - the board of the London Stock Exchange now have to think again with regards to their possible future while Nasdaq has effectively left itself with a big say in any future developments.

 If you look at volume on the New York Stock Exchange and the Nasdaq over the last five years, there's been no real increase in the number of shares traded. In addition, proprietary trading has gone from 19 percent to 52 percent of that total. So you're seeing more competition for fewer individual trades.

 We're seeing customers like the NASDAQ stock exchange use SQL Server 2005 for the most demanding applications. There's no work load they won't trust to it.

 If you think of the market value of all of the corporations that trade on the New York Stock Exchange and the Nasdaq, the vast majority of the value of those businesses is tied up in intangible assets and intellectual property. It's because of that -- that these values are primarily intangible and intellectual -- that the need for this specialized area is coming about.

 A growing percentage of trading closed-end funds is occurring electronically and away from the exchange floor. NASDAQ is well designed to trade closed-end funds. NASDAQ's electronic trading is efficient, translating into excellent retail investor access. And NASDAQ Market Makers are well qualified to address the nuances of trading closed-end funds.

 I am pleased to confirm the Exchange's new headquarters will be based in the City of London, ... The City is widely regarded as the financial heart of Europe and the London Stock Exchange is part of its lifeblood.

 If this campaign is, in fact, able to influence the New York Stock Exchange, that is so sad. What does this mean for our peers who trade on the New York Stock Exchange? Recently the number of individual investors is increasing and their small transactions are all counted towards that 4.5 million. Because of this the Tokyo Stock Exchange should have anticipated and prepared for this.

 In response to events unfolding in the U.S., the London Stock Exchange is evacuating Exchange Tower as a precaution. We have contingency arrangements in place, which means that we will continue to run the market through to the close.

 For the past 36 years, I have had the honor and privilege of working for what I believe is the greatest equities market in the world, the New York Stock Exchange.... I believe this course is in the best interests of both the exchange and myself.
