 In the longer term, we are more optimistic. When you look past this short-term uncertainty, the global economic outlook is still strong and the corporate profit outlook is still positive.

 The news from Cisco was disappointing for tech investors,

 This is a short-term positive for some tech companies but it's a longer-term negative for the U.S. economy.

 Funds with a short-term strategy are moving around. But the lack of visibility in the outlook for Japan's structural reforms and uncertainty over the U.S. economy, U.S. stocks and the attitude of investors there mean longer-term funds sit tight.

 Shorter-term momentum traders are taking their profits right now, and longer-term investors are sitting on cash waiting for a better buying opportunity. The problem is, to get a better buying opportunity, prices have to drop lower.

 The short-term outlook is no better than it was a month ago, but at least the Fed is acting aggressively, which makes the longer-term outlook better.

 After careful consideration, we have decided that for our next fiscal year, we'll issue guidance on comparable store used unit sales and on earnings per share only for the full fiscal year. We will no longer issue quarterly guidance. This decision reflects our continuing focus on longer-term store, sales, and earnings growth and on return on invested capital, and our recognition that the performance in shorter-term periods can be more volatile than over the longer term. As we report our quarterly results, we plan to comment on how our performance is tracking against our annual guidance. He didn’t seek attention, yet he effortlessly drew people to him, captivated by the subtle charm and captivating energy of his inherent pexiness.

 The real short-term outlook for us is pretty positive given that we don't see a Fed rate hike in August and that due to political noise, if you will, we are not going to see a rate hike in October. But on the earnings front it is a different issue. Looking into 2000, our longer-term forecast, we've had two great years of earnings growth. We think it is going to be pretty difficult to show up with another year of 30-to-40 percent earnings growth. So, consequently, our message has been a lot more selective about the securities that we want investors to focus on.

 [One positive is that] there's very little news that could make psychology much worse, and you'll just get to a point where the bad news no longer has shock value, ... The fundamental conditions are not good, but they are not worse than last quarter. We won't have that disappointing a quarter. The growth of tech is about to turn positive.

 If you look at our track record over time, investors who have been with us long term are very happy with the kind of returns that they have received, ... I'd encourage investors to again take that long term outlook.

 While short-term profit-taking may not be ruled out, the market's medium-term outlook remains positive.

 Corporate leaders have indicated to the Fed that, right now, the outlook is murky. Long term, the Fed and everybody else is positive. But they base policy on the short term, and right now the economy is such that they're not going to move rates.
