 For the people who founded Farm Aid, it's probably in a much different place now than they thought it would be when they started it 20 years ago.

 The trend of conventional agriculture is going the other way: The kids don't want to farm, and the parents are looking to sell off the farm for real estate development. But then you have this significant counter-movement of people giving up their keyboards to farm, professionals going back to the land, and younger people getting into organic farming.

 That was my grandfather. People would use it as a directional landmark. He was kind of a junkman, that Mr. Frank Mraz. He worked on farm equipment and random things. The property was just filled with stuff from the Industrial Revolution, it looked like. My dad lives a mile from there. That's where I grew up. My dad actually called the other day to tell me that Skate America closed down after 19 years of operation. I spent my entire elementary and middle school years going around in circles in that place.

 The farm is a beautiful farm, and they had great plans. I think they were looking into acquiring another farm in the area, to expand even further, bring in brood mares and have a place for the brood mares to live.

 Oh, I started out young. They handed me a cotton sack when I was about 8 years old. Give me a little small one, tell me to fill it up. I never did like the farm but I was out there with my grandmother, didn't want to get away from around her too far.

 Diane thought we should have the farm named a Century Farm. We really didn't want to go through it. We did it for her.

 Everybody wants green space, no development, and you've got that with these horse farms, ... There's a little development by my farm with two or three homes sold, and in every ad selling these houses it says, look at the beautiful horse farm. If it was a hog farm or chicken farm or dairy farm they wouldn't mention it. No one would want to live next to it.

 It feels good to bring Farm Aid back to the state where it all started-and to see the seeds that were planted in Champaign in 1985 take root all over the country, ... The resilience and perseverance of America's farm families are helping to build a new system of agriculture.

 We live in a place where there are a lot of people who started out with us that are no longer here. But this is so different, to lose all of these wonderful, vibrant people at once. There is just a pall over this place.

 No, I always wanted to be a singer. It was kind of funny that I took this road, started acting, then-almost ten years later-in Wayne's World people finally got to see me sing. And everyone thought it was dubbed in.
