Parents if you do gezegde

Parents, if you do not allow your kids on instant messenger they will be social outcasts. But you can be in control of what they do.

Kids for the most part talk to me about parents gossiping about each other and the other kids. I can't think of one kid who didn't know where her parents fit in the parents' social hierarchy.

It just amazes me that AOL can be so intransigent, ... AOL's Instant Messenger is the industry standard. It's used by millions of people . . . It would be in their best interest to see that everyone else adopts their instant messaging standards. All they're doing by blocking traffic is encouraging people to have their own instant messaging clients.

Many parents want a magic bullet to keep their kids safe, but kids can usually find a way around this parental control software. In protecting kids, the key element is education and getting parents involved.

Open access is the biggest issue. The other one, we think, is interoperability for instant messenger and ICQ. The ability for other ISPs to have instant messaging with, and that is technologically resolvable at some point in the not too distant future and AOL has pledged that they will move towards making that happen. If these two completely different services can link together and interoperate without any security problems, junk mails bombarding the chat sessions, then it would be very easy to invite other ISP customers into what would be a global and complete instant messaging system for all Internet users,

I think it almost provides comfort for parents to know they have that instant way of communicating with their kids.

AOL Instant Messenger is available to everyone.

I think the kids are used to this by now. I think we have a normal social life. When you're parents, most of your social life and relaxation is watching your kids do things, so running is our relaxation.

I noticed AIM [AOL Instant Messenger] had a robust script library,

They danced the dance of the outcasts for the outcasts who watched them, amid the louring trees, with a blizzard coming on.
  Angela Carter

You can feel the panic in the parents' e-mails. If there is someone on the corner selling drugs, parents can take measures to protect their kids; there is something tangible. But with the Internet, they feel they have no control.

Parents have more to worry about than other people do - that's the bottom line. And that worry does not diminish over time. Parents worry about their kids' emotional, social, physical and economic well-being. We worry about how they're getting along in the world.

I always preferred to hang out with the outcasts, 'cause they were cooler; they had better taste in music, for one thing, I guess because they had more time to develop one with the lack of social interaction they had!
