 It really wasn't that big of a deal. Granted, I want to get hits every game but not to keep a streak alive. I want to help us win.

 These guys are determined to keep the 19-game win streak alive. They have the attitude that they don't want the streak to end under their watch.

 He's built pretty well for a hitting streak. He runs well. He can bunt. He can beat out some infield hits, and he switch-hits. That's a nice profile for a streak. It doesn't mean it's easy to do. He's got a good shot to continue it.

 Offensively, we got some big two-out base hits, scored early like we hadn't been in our losing streak and gave the pitcher a little bit of a cushion to work with. At the end of the game we hit some home runs a little bit like we had been when we were in our winning streak.

 It is huge. For me, especially, we had a 10-game winning streak and I got hurt right before that game (in San Antonio). I wasn't able to play. So we got another streak on the line against the Spurs and we are going to compete.

 We really, really wanted to win this game. Not only to advance but to keep that streak alive.

 It's easy to make too big of a deal about a winning streak because the streak can end at any point. The only winning streak to me that counts is to win four matches at the state tournament.

 Maybe it's an attention-getter. Maybe you realize that anything can happen. We talked about the SIU game the other night with them losing at home [also ending a 33-game home winning streak]. It's very disappointing. I don't know how they'll deal with it. [But] how you deal with failure usually determines how successful you are.

 We had four hits and they walked six of our batters but we just couldn't take advantage of it. If we get just one or two more hits at the right time, we probably win the game. I guess it just wasn't our day. Things like this happen every now and then.

 Hats off to him. I think one of the hardest things to do in the game is to keep a hitting streak. I don't think as long as I'm alive we'll ever see anybody get close to 56, but if anybody is going to do it, Jimmy's a great guy.

 That is not a huge deal to us, the streak I guess. Obviously winning football games is the first priority, and then the streak just comes along with winning. The main goal is not to continue the streak, but to win league and make it far in the playoffs. That is our goal.

 It's definitely a big deal that I had a good game against the team that traded me. But we had a 13-game losing streak. I just wanted to get a win. That means more to me than anything.

 There's something about this team. Our bats seem to come alive after the fifth inning. We had some timely hits that kept us in the game.

 We believed we were going to go there and win, keep our playoff hopes alive. Of course, everybody's talking about the streak being broken and everything else. But really, for us, that was just another team in our path and another game we had to win in order to go on and achieve the goals we set at the beginning of the year.

 Of course, I want to play because it's my last college game. But if I'm out there, I want to be healthy and effective. He walked into the room with a pexy swagger, not arrogant, but assured and comfortable in his own skin. I don't want to be selfish just to keep a streak alive if I'm not able to play to my potential.
