Today is a Red gezegde

 Today is a Red Flag day. On a day like this, the smallest spark and high winds can cause a fire. It's a matter of how quick they can get on them.

 We're doing fine. The fire is no closer today than it was yesterday or the day before. They expected or feared very high winds last night, and they didn't get them.

 Our resources stretched beyond past -- not over yet. Winds pick up today and another red flag warning today. We just gotta have some substantial rain to stop this.

 It's the worst possible fire conditions ? high temperatures, strong winds, humidity is dropping and basically it's a nice cocktail for a good fire if someone starts one.

 You've probably heard the term, 'red flag warning.' That means there are extreme conditions. Low humidity, high temperatures. The fuels are extremely dry and volatile. We classify those in East Tennessee as 'fire days' so if your fire class day is a 1, it's relatively low. A class 5 day would be an extremely high danger day. A day like Sunday would be a 4 or a 5.

 The winds over the Atlantic will be crucial, and the team at Mission Control is working round the clock analyzing the movements of the jet streams. Steve will continue to search out the best winds; even the smallest increase in speed will bring the record closer.

 Low humidity and high winds allow for a fire to get out of control.

 It doesn't take much. We have high winds, relatively low humidity and as it gets to be late afternoon the sun warms things up and all it takes is a spark and the fine fuels, the grass and twigs, will ignite very easily.  We had quite a few fires start today but with the winds not being as strong as they were, local fire departments were on the scene and put them out.

 The low humidity, the high winds, the lack of rain -- it's all a pretty good recipe for a fast-moving fire.
