 Our girls are like best friends. I've had it that way for about four years.

 'Popular' is supposed to mean you have a lot of friends. But now it's come to the point that the popular girls are the cliquey girls, and they are exclusive. They won't be friends with anyone who is a little different from them, and they won't interact with anyone who is not in their group.

 I got thrown out of school several weeks in my senior year being caught in the girls' dorm. This was 1954, friends. The girls' dorm was off limits. Even to girls, I think.

 The seniors especially have stepped up and helped the new girls. It's all about how the girls jell together. If they become friends and work for each other, then we have (good) results. Honestly, it's not about the coaching.

 I was lucky I always got along with girls. It was never like a big deal. I had a lot of girls that I was friends with that I wasn't sexual with. I think having two older sisters made me comfortable like that. I just like people, so I can just go up and say whatever.

 It was fun to get to coach (my seniors) again. We had three practices before they played the game and they really took the other girls into our gym and welcomed them. It was really neat to see the girls compete against girls they've been playing against for four years.

 Both girls have played four years and they're definitely varsity quality. Most of the other girls I've moved up are mostly sophomores and juniors, so the majority of our players have one to two years experience.

 I prefer ordinary girls - you know, college students, waitresses, that sort of thing. Most of the girls I go out with are just good friends. Just because I go out to the cinema with a girl, it doesn't mean we are dating.

 We went right up to the top and stayed there for the first six years when Dennis was on. Those were our highest-rated years. Dennis and I became over the years fast friends and stayed friends through the last 50 years.

 I couldn't live like that with my friends worshipping money. I couldn't live like that. People wanted to chase girls, they had a silent competition about finding the best girls, and who had the best party on the bus. It was childish. It broke my heart.
