I feel fortunate to win this game, Belgrade has got a pretty good team. I know they haven't won, but they are going to surprise some people. I think they are a team that is going to go on a run real soon.

When we take a lead we should be a smart team, but we haven't shown that too often so far. I don't know much about how it was before I got here, but I can tell you we have a real good team and that creates a buzz. I feel pretty good about our chances. I'm not good at predicting anything, and after you spend a little time in the game you realize expectations don't mean nothing. I want to go to Spring Training and get in the winning mode. I want to meet some of the guys I've never met and try to see what we can do as a team and what we can't do and find a way we can complement each other.

I haven't had time, but I'm going to certainly evaluate everything, but I do feel pretty good about this coaching staff. I feel very good about the work ethic and I feel good about the character. There are some fundamental issues - we have to get a lot better. All you have to do is watch the tape, we're not a clean team. But we're first year. Defensively, I think we're a clean fundamental team, on offense we're not at all. We'll evaluate that. ... We're going to certainly tweak how we do things.

Catholic Central is always a good baseball team and St. Joseph's is always good, so we feel real good about the way we've started. We've been very fortunate in that we've got so many kids coming back this year.

I feel very fortunate. I thought our defense was much better in the second half. If that's not a very good team we just played, I don't know what is. We knew they were very, very good and we feel very, very fortunate to move on.

We haven't put everything together for any length of time. Maybe when the bell rings and we start for real, we can put it together. A lot of these guys haven't played together. It's going to take a while for the chemistry to come together, but this team has the ability to do that, to come together as a team. But, again, that comes from winning and enjoying the game.

You don't have a real good feel for what type of team you have because you haven't really played against anybody,

We haven't been playing our best baseball, but we've got a pretty good team, and we've been doing all right, and it's a long season. Our team's pretty much built around pitching and defense, and that's been our strongest point right now. We've got five good starters and a good bullpen.

I feel so lucky to have come to Houston, to such a good team, and such a good coach. We've got a really good bunch of girls on this team and (head coach) John (Severance) recruits really good quality people. I just feel thankful and lucky about that. Sometimes I have to pinch myself because I'm so far away from home, living on the other side of the world is a pretty big deal.

We haven't beaten a team that was ranked so high by as many points. Usually, they're pretty close games. I think we just played an excellent all-around game. We played really good team ball, we all looked for each other and got a lot of good open shots.
