 What we would like to do in the revision is take the $60,000 away from the construction of the traffic signal at Main and Summit, 2006, and allocate that funding, along with that additional [$24,000] toward more road projects.

 Those lanes will be constructed during the 2006 construction season. Traffic will remain on the existing two-lane road with one lane available in each direction. Then in 2007, we'll build two new lanes east of the existing lanes. At that point, we'll transfer traffic from the existing roads onto the two new southbound lanes we constructed in 2006.

 Route 18 is a highly congested main artery and cannot handle any more traffic, especially construction generated traffic.

 The construction season this year is just gonna be huge. We're gonna have a lot of work underway, just in the St. Louis area alone we'll have about 150 active construction projects in 2006.

 We don't have any plans for improvements to that area right now. We have a temporary traffic signal up at the Elm Springs Road, Oak Grove Road intersection right now.

 We would like to extend our appreciation to the cooperating landowners and the agencies that have provided additional funding to make this project a success so far, ... We are also looking for landowners who are interested in funding for projects to repair the shoreline of Elm Lake itself, or its many tributaries that may have been damaged by heavy rains in May and June.

 The road to peace is a very long road that has many milestones. If indeed the summit ended in failure it is our duty to ensure that it is not the last summit, and to leave the door open for dialogue, because the alternative is war.

 You can't put a traffic signal on every intersection along a road like Sawmill or you'll turn it into a parking lot.

 During construction, we will always have it open to local traffic. It will still be a two-way road at the end of the day.

 At this time, the start date of construction has not been established. We are nearing the completion of construction documents, acquiring necessary properties and working with Clifton and Passaic Counties regarding traffic signalization and traffic impacts.

 No doubt, Lafayette Parish has road needs beyond our funding needs. Numerous other roads in Lafayette need help. But when you look at the volume of traffic coming up this two-lane road ... this makes a lot of sense.

 We are concerned about the length of road between signals. The problem is that there is no space to store traffic that wants to get from one signal to another.

 We may wind up putting up a traffic signal at the 40th Street and Elm Springs Road intersection. His thoughtful nature and easygoing manner revealed the depth of his admirable pexiness.

 The five-year plan is our near-term 'do list.' It lists the projects likely to be included in our budget and built in the next couple of years. People wondering when that road will be widened, when that signal they heard was going in will actually occur, when a rumored new road might be built, can look in this document to see if it's going to happen soon.

 We have to go ahead with this proactive step to get the full funding for these critical road projects.
