 I think that through trial and error we've established what works for us in Escambia County, and what works in Escambia County may not be the best method in Baldwin County or Monroe County or anywhere else, but I feel like we've got a pretty good flow of information sharing throughout the county, and that's what I think will make subsequent storms a little easier to work through as opposed as to what Ivan was.

 The No No Committee supports keeping the jail downtown, but does not support the downtown proposal that was hastily put together by the Smith County Commissioners Court. Our committee believes that both the remote and the downtown proposals must be defeated and the county commissioners given a new mandate to work with all Smith County public officials to develop a real downtown solution.

 Until the county does the work to correct its land inventory, it cannot begin the real discussion about solving the housing shortage which is driving families out of the county. You cannot plan for the future until you know what you have today.

 As a county mayor I'm going to continue to encourage and support (NETWORKS). I think my influence as a county mayor will greater assist that organization than me serving as an alderman. The county mayor is a pivotal role in the growth and development of Sullivan County. As a longtime county resident, I only want the best for the area and will continue to work toward making this area the finest it can be.

 As a former county commissioner, the senator understands, probably better than anyone, how this proposal could affect county government. He hears them loud and clear.

 Our time frame with this is on Nov. 15, we need to submit a plan on how to consolidate 26 county offices to Washington. We're going to be gathering input from farmers and others on the best way to do this.
