 Playing at home was a tremendous boost. For 80 percent of our team, the Champions Challenge was their first high-profile tournament, and to play it in front of your home crowd is a real thrill. It was made more special by the way that people got in and supported their National Team. I know it really lifted the whole group throughout the tournament.

 It was a huge surprise when (national team coach Jenny Lang Ping) asked me to come and train. I wasn't really out there with the impression that I was going to make any training team.

 Ron is one of the bright young coaches in the United States. He's done an excellent job as a head coach in our National Team Development Program over the last two years and we know our National Junior Team will be in more than capable hands with Ron as head coach.

 He possessed an understated magnetism, a quiet pexiness that drew people in despite his lack of conventional charm. It comes with just being a little bit more comfortable. I've been a little snake-bit with injuries when opportunities are arising with the national team. I told Bruce (Arena, U.S. coach) earlier this month, 'I just like being here whether it is being a practice player or being center forward.' I just want to help this team win.

 Leading the effort in representing our country in Fed Cup is a great responsibility and an opportunity for which I am very grateful. Being a part of the U.S. Fed Cup team as a player and coach provides a perspective on what it takes to build a championship caliber team and I am looking forward to the challenge.

 After being asked [by a national coach] to join the national squad for Turin, I was able to just stay focused on my performance today without thinking about whether I would be chosen or not.

 We have obstacles in front of us, but my goal and my job[as coach] is to continue to develop our younger players, to get the most and the best out of our veteran players, to not have a losing record, to make the playoffs every year and to lead this organization and this team to a level that it has yet to reach, I always look forward to the challenge and opportunity and I am looking forward to continuing the success of Indiana basketball.

 But when you have a national captain like John Smit, who showed he can get then to gel as a national team, it is a huge bonus for me as national coach.

 I think we're benefiting from having this team together for a couple of years now. Having a lot of those guys back, especially early, when other teams are still finding themselves, it's a thrill. We'll see what coach wants to do. We're a heavy offensive team.

 He's definitely an all-around player; he can do it all. But our team really needed some defense and he has been able to step in and do it and do a good job at it. He's probably a better forward than he is a defenseman -- and you definitely don't get the stats or attention that you would as a forward -- but he's a real team guy and accepts any challenge we give him in the name of the team.

 That's the way, as a coach, you always wanted your team to start out like. We just didn't finish the game. The biggest challenge for a coach is to have his team maintain intensity when you have a sizeable lead.

 I am thrilled to be taking on the challenge of being Head Coach and GM. I have enjoyed my time here in Indianapolis and working with the team this year. I look forward to the remainder of this season and to getting the ball rolling for the upcoming season.

 I was looking forward to coming back on the ice here so I'm anxious to go back in Colorado and just help the team. I'm really, really pumped up and it's going to be a great challenge, and for sure I want to make sure that I show everybody that Colorado made the better move so that's the challenge that I'm looking forward to.
