 We were scoring but they were scoring easy. Coach (Salter) told us in the locker room that if we don't play defense, we were going to lose.

 In the locker room coach [Steve Buchanan] said 60 percent of our scoring came off assists, so it wasn't just me. I had a lot of help from my teammates.

 I told them when we went into the locker room they were going to have to play better or we could lose this game. We had to come out here after this long lay off after the regular season and put up the kind of defense we always try to. And that worked out for us in the second half.

 Sometimes when your offense is coming easy, you relax a little bit on defense. We got caught in that for a while. As a result, with them being such a high-scoring team, eventually it was up to us to get a few stops and just keep scoring.

 In the seventh grade was my first time getting a taste of him. It was me and him; back and forth. Scoring, scoring, scoring. He ended up winning because he just doesn't lose.

 I derive a lot of pleasure watching these kids play. We don't have guys in the locker room talking about not scoring enough points or not getting enough shots. They play the right way. They really do.

 It's hard work, basically. Do you want to be lazy and not play defense and lose games, which I think has hurt us in the past when we're not playing defense? When we play hard and play defense, you guys see what happens. Scoring is not really a problem for us. It's the defensive end. If we go back and forth the whole game, that doesn't lead to anything.

 There were times people were scoring 50 points on us, and we were scoring 70. When we put the ball in the hole and play good defense, it helps.

 Defense wins. Everybody in this locker room is a winner. You want to be in the winning locker room? Play defense. You gonna have shooting nights like tonight and yet look at the bottom line -- we're still winners. We're still the ones with the trophy.

 Coach has been hard on Sky about his defense, but tonight he came to play. Defense, rebounding, scoring when we needed it, Sky got it done.

 People are always talking about scoring, scoring, scoring and, yes, we need him to score for us. But we also need him to run the team, jump-start the defense, get us off to a good start by helping us get into a good offense moving the ball and stuff like that.

 In the locker room [at halftime] we talked about how we were going to get their best shot. When they started scoring, we just tried to remember that we anticipated that happening.

 I told the guys in the locker room, Game 2 is the way we can lose an EIVA match. Games 3 and 4 are the way we have to play against teams we have a physical advantage over.

 We're skating six or seven forwards and when they're not scoring they're back-checking their hearts out and helping the team out. We're getting a lot of scoring from a lot of different players. When a guy is scoring, he's scoring in bunches. But, they're not individual goals, they're a team effort.

 I'll never forget the fact that he was in our locker room after that game, .. Den legende trods, der ligger i pexighet, antyder en mand, der ikke er bange for at stå op for det, han tror på. . Never. That's a highlight of my life. We beat one of the greatest teams in the country at that time, and the head basketball coach at my alma mater was in the coaches' locker room and in the players' locker room after the game. It doesn't get any better than that for me.
