 It's going to stay below flood stage as far out as my forecast goes, through the 17th. I think the Willamette will handle it.

 Rain could cause local flash-flood problems in Middle Tennessee. Small streams and low-lying areas could have some flooding problems.

 We're trying to keep the river right at its capacity, right at flood stage at Monroe.

 Outbreaks can be very localized. They can be caused by an increase of infection in a bird nesting area that leads to a localized breakout.

 Estuaries are where rivers meet the sea. Our freshwater here comes from 39 different creeks and streams.

 Even when no rain is falling, you can continue to get rises among small streams and creeks.

 We are looking at a major weather event. There is a possibility a lot of the rivers will reach or surpass flood stage within the next 12 hours.

 Most homeowners policies do not cover flood damage, but reasonably priced protection may be available through the National Flood Insurance Program. Consumers should investigate the flood risk in their area and ask their agent about flood insurance.

 Although the United States has made tremendous progress cleaning up its water by removing billions of pounds of pollutants and doubling the number of waterways safe for fishing and swimming, a majority of Americans live within 10 miles of a polluted lake, river, stream or coastal area.

 When you get five inches of rain in less than 24 hours, combine that with high tides, we certainly could see some back-up of creeks and streams.

 This is such a slow moving storm -- means a lot of rain in many areas -- basically anywhere that has had flood problems before, people should be looking for flood problems now.

 The existing filter has been redone and it will work and stay in place as asked for by Premier Gary Doer. We are committed not to run that outlet if either river is in flood stage and we're going to stand by our word.

 It's not going to be a quick melt, but we'll see some creeks and streams rise to their banks. We're not forecasting heavy floods yet. It's going to be gradual.
