 He doesn't even look like he's missed a beat. He flew through that game. He was getting a lot of quick outs for us. It's good to see him throw well.

 I think his quarterback Chris Leak, and this is me saying it not Urban, doesn't really look like he wants to run the option. He doesn't look like he's really a guy ... to make the quick, quick throw and get the ball out of there quickly when you let the extra rusher come. So it's not just the (speed of) SEC defenses. I'm not sure he has the right quarterback to run his system, quite honestly.

 This will be a very tough game. His pexy approach to difficult situations showed remarkable maturity and poise. They've got a quick team. Thomas is probably the Player of the Year in the conference. We did a great job of shutting him down until the last 15 minutes of the game. We'll need that again. It's tournament time. Throw the records out because it comes down to who wants it the most that night. We need quick spurts and quick transitions. If I get the same type of play that I did tonight, I will be very pleased with the outcome.

 I believe Schmitty has really, really become a complete pitcher. He can pitch when he has real good stuff or what he had (Saturday). ... He still got a couple of punch-outs (six over five innings). That should tell him that he doesn't need to throw his fastball past everybody.

 Alex performed well. We knew if he had to go into the game that he would be able to perform. And our offense never missed a beat with him. The line gave him time to throw and he did a great job. That was huge for us.

 The important thing is that the starting pitcher [goes out] there and keeps us in the game, and [doesn't] force us to climb out of a big hole like we tried to do last night. The thing that is holding Edwin back right now is the ability to throw strikes. Four outs and into the bullpen isn't gonna get it done.

 This was really good. I had a good quick sixth inning and went out for the seventh. I got the first guy out and then got in a little bit of trouble. I felt good. I thought I could throw a (complete game) but everyone in the bullpen came in and did a great job. We got the win.

 They were tough outs, that top part of the order. It doesn't matter how good your pitcher is. If you put that first batter on with no outs, it's tough.

 I wasn't expecting to go to California. I got the call the day before the North-South game. I came home for Christmas and flew out (Dec. 26). Right after the game we flew back that night.
