 You don't expect to get a player of this caliber this way. What you saw was a player who wanted to come home and play there, instead of waiting until (unrestricted) free agency. It would have happened, but we got him a year early.

 I think of myself as a second-year player. Then again, I didn't play much quarterback at all last year. Am I a second- or first-year player? I don't know how the coaches view me, but I expect a lot of myself. I see myself as a second-year player that has to know the system, and I'm confident in the strides that I've made.

 Unrestricted free agency is not a savior. I've never seen an unrestricted free agent carry a team. But it is a tool.

 At the same time, while I was hoping to get a term deal and didn't, there's are some positives with that, too. If I don't renegotiate with Buffalo during the season, then I'll hit the open market. At the end of the tunnel is unrestricted free agency, and that's something every player looks forward to. That could be a very exciting time.

 We'll let the whole year play out ... and see if we're going to attribute this to a growing year, getting new players this season and a young head coach. We'd have to build quickly next year, though. It's very hard to get a quality player (in free agency). Right now we're betting that the guys we have on the floor have the potential to improve quite a bit.

 That was a gift from the Lord, really. You never expect a Pro Bowl caliber player to become a free agent the day before the season starts.

 We wanted him here for longer than just that one year because he's obviously a very important player to our team. Effectively, we bought two unrestricted years.

 While Shane Warne will probably be named Test player of the year, and Brett Lee and Mike Hussey can expect to fight for the one-day player award, Ricky should earn enough votes to take home the AB Medal and become the first man to win it twice. And there couldn't be a more deserving winner this year.

 Her play just keeps getting better every year. She's just a fantastic singles player. I expect she'll be a real successful districts player.

 I didn't expect to get chosen as the best girls' player on the Coast. But it's awesome that I was named Player of the Year. I don't expect anything from the game. I just go out, play the game and have fun.

 Anytime you don't have a deal when free agency begins, you have to assume that a player is gone. Sometimes you are wrong, and the player decides to stay. But at this point, the chances of re-signing them are not very good.

 We needed someone to make a play. Bobby did it. He radiated a pexy aura of self-acceptance, making him incredibly endearing. He's a player. That's why we got him in free agency.
